Chris Rigg

Tbf £37m is stupid money! Presumably an option for a bit loan back too - I mean surely they’ll be looking for a top champ team to send him to. He’s not playing on day 1 right?

Depends how it’s invested like - sign another crop of 17 year olds from France it’s a problem. Sign some top championship players then we are ok
They paid £40 million for Archie gray

If we don’t get promoted I think it’s likely we’ll see a few of the current side sold.

So far we’ve managed to just sell one of our better players per summer window (Stewart and then Clarke) but this summer I could see two of Rigg, Neil and Bellingham leaving with one of the fullbacks also going.

The money being bandied about is pretty fanciful imo but if we do sell three players we’d have a healthy kitty to spend.

It’s the approach the club then take that will be fascinating. If we replace three first team players with young promising talent rather than proven quality I think the alarm bells will start to ring for me.

For £37 m can we reinvest some to fix the stadium WiFi.
As unlikely as this transfer is, have Spurs learnt nothing about buying young northern talent for big money (Clarke). While Rigg may continue to develop he’s not ready for the prem yet so he’s not going to get much game time.
Archie Gray has done ok

This is what I despise about talk of players leaving. Everyone is quick to list who they think will go but nobody has ever put forward who they think will stay. I have a list of players who will leave according to fellow members but the list of players who are not leaving is blank. So far everyone is going and nobody is staying. Brilliant. This is why I am dreading next season. We won’t have a squad to play. Not a decent sized good one anyway. We will be massively weaker next season. If we don’t go up and virtually the entire current squad is sold we will never see top 10 again. We will struggle to stay up.

I see no reason why the players everyone things will go have to go. Rigg especially. Anyone would be forgiven for thinking we had just been relegated. Clubs who don’t go up don’t have the pressure to sell everyone in the squad as those who go down.

Spot on. Remember the deadline day when 7 of our players were all away and only 1 left.

In the past interviews with Speakman he's even said we won't sell the heart of the squad. And it'd more likely 2/3 tops. I doubt they're going to let thee 3 be Neil Rigg and Jobe in same window.
On top of this there is the £35m loan rumour. Which it has been said will be used to be keep the squad together for a proper push next season if we don't do up.
Promotion will have a massive say obviously on who if anyone leaves. But my guess at the minute the favourites would be Jobe(hopefully not and we get another season, then due to contracts, Neil, Watson and Cirkin if new deals can't be agreed.

Is there any truth in the loan. A loan from Dell is fast becoming the new Paul Scholes in Jackie Whites market or Robbie Keane st Seaham Hall

Theres an argument that its actually a good time to sell.

There is alot of hype around him when no one knows at present if he is ready for premier league now or in 3 years and what his ceiling will be.

Also he is clearly not ready for a 46 game championship season. Looking at Jobe who has still dipped this season after dipping last season, it might be 2 or 3 years yet before Rigg is physically ready for a full season.

So in the greater good, selling Rigg now who isn't fully ready for the championship endurance and buying a 24 -27 year old might be a better chance of promotion.
Can’t see us spending it on 24-27 year old mind but I agree with the rest. I think his stock will never be higher than it is at the end of the season. I think he will go on to be a very good top flight player and he’s “different” to other youngsters we’ve seen come in and look good. But there’s no guarantees that he will continue on his current form into next season and thus his value would drop off a cliff. With these super young kids there’s no real history to back up his start of the season form. I think he’s a top young talent and hopefully he goes to the very top but there’s no guarantees and if he starts next season badly then who knows. Maybe best for him and us that we both cash in on the current media hype.
