Spurs 38 m bid for rigg

Yep - so both figures appear in the same (Echo) article?
Haway you’re not that stupid fella. The post was about why would they offer 38 if Sunderland value him at 20. The 2 figures are 2 different sources so they are irrelevant to each other. That the echo has badly brought them together is pointless

I expect we'd be looking for closer to 38m than 20m. The 10m bandied about is a joke.

He's a class young talent, despite looking dead on his feet at the moment. He'll come back stronger next season.
There’s reportedly about five teams wanting him. I think it’s clear he will be away even more so if we don’t go up so we need to squeeze as much out of clubs as possible. If this were such a hyped young player somewhere else no one would bat an eyelid at a big club spending £38m given the hype behind the lad.

Anything north of £20 million for any of our players snap their hands off long as it's reinvested in the team

Newsnow says £38 million quid
Newsnow isn't a source man V

It's a news aggregator

If the original source is that crap looking Spanish website quoting euros then no way it'll be true

Also naughty of "Macca" the SAFC twitter twit fan not to even bother identifying their source

Id take that in a heartbeat tbf, IF we dont go up.

Love the lad but that sort of money in the Championship cant be turned down. Even better if it includes a sell on fee.
This & I'd be telling Spurs the same. He's for sale if we fail to win promotion, with £38m being their opening bid. We could get £50m.

£38 million

come off it man.

a) he isn't worth that, as good as a prospect that he is
b) we are the club that 'negotiated' £15million for clarke who was arguably one of the best players in the championship last season

If we don’t go up it’s going to be a big transfer window for speakman & the owners specially if have to sell four of our top players
Speaksie would love it man ! Get in 8 unknowns off his big spreadsheet and hoy 4 in the frst team, 4 on the bench. We'll be back to 16th place but they'll have gained enough minutes to sell one of them.

Isn't this more or less what happened to Reg after his hot season at Lorient ? All his good lads peddled ?

The fee won’t be near that I agree , Rigg is has far more value than Clarke. Potentially on a far higher level .

Clarke a lot older had “failed” in the top flight so to speak and only one team interested. Riggs ceiling is arguably much higher, he’s way younger has a lot of hype around him and if the rumours are true there’s at least four teams interested. We should be looking to extract the maximum out of any deal and play teams off each other. We hold all the cards here really.

i don't disagree that rigg is currently worth more than clarke, my point is that SAFC have a long history of making absolute mugs of ourselves in the transfer market.

Archie Gray went to Spurs for £40m aged 18 following 44 Championship appearances.

Chris Rigg is 17 and already has 55 Championship appearances and reportedly has pretty much every top club in Europe either after him or at the least, very interested in him. He's widely regarded to be a generational talent.

Anything less than the fee paid by Spurs for Archie Gray is us having our pants pulled down. £40m is perfectly reasonably.

Similarly with Jobe, he's 19. A stack of top European clubs are reportedly interested. He has ONE HUNDRED AND THREE Championship appearances to his name and is now a regular with England U21s. Again, £40m is perfectly reasonable.

The difference with Clarke is that Ipswich (a lower end, soon to be Championship once again club) were the only ones interested. With Rigg and Bellingham when they are sold there will be a huge bidding war. Accepting the first bid would be a disaster for SAFC.
