Sunderland railway station.

The problem with using GC is if there is delays to the system, LNER usually transfer you to the previous or next train - granted if you have a seat reserved and isn't direct t Sunderland - it 's not great but your moving. I once waited three hours at York after a day drink session for a train home :(

I still can't believe they spent all that money turning Burger King into an empty room 🤷‍♂️
At least it doesn't smell of cooking fat when you walk up from platform level but yes nothing like the cgi images of what it was supposed to look like. Might suffice for a metro stop but for a major city railway station its awful but could be so much better. The toilets, filthy windows, lack of anybody maintaining it is shocking.

They recently extended their track access agreement to 2038 and are ordering new Hitachi bimodes to replace the current fleet. They've worked miracles with the reliability of a fleet of absolute dogs in the Class 180s to be fair to them.
That’s good to know. I don’t use it as often as I used too but back then every time the between carriage doors opened I expected Hercule Poirot to wander in.

Looks like someone has listened to the suggestions on here...

Is that the one that is in the bridges once a month moving to outside the station then?

Edit, says brand new - so a 2nd monthly market?

Noticed while walking round town this morning contractors putting advertising posters in the windows of the empty units telling us they are available to rent, better late than never I suppose

Absolutely grim that part of town, what a welcome for people arriving. Has to be one of the worst first impressions of a city in the country?
Market Square is awful like. Would be amazing long term if they could do something with the North Entrance and make it grand again, and tidy up the high street, but in the meantime it would just be good if that area could be improved similarly to the improvements we’ve seen in the northern and western ends of the city centre.

Walked through it yesterday and it's just grey buildings covered in bird shit.
