From BBC Sport.

The incident took place when Leeds United played Sunderland at Elland Road in February, police say.

Banned for life is the only punishment fit. If it’s the incident at the end when the Leeds players were goading us, every other fucker managed to not get racial about it so it’s not an excuse. Going to be learning the hard way the tit
It certainly is, the only punishment. life no question about it name taken and never allowed into grounds in the UK, zero tolerance, and also name kept on file with the police also, and during the world cup next summer, his passport on offer if he even thinks' about going to the world cup

Police don't have the power to ban someone for life. The max they can give is 10 years and it certainly wont be used in this case, it'll be the standard 3 years

He should be easy enough to identify, it sold out on quite high points so presumably a regular.

He might even post on here.

That's a shame, maybe it needs looking into then at government level. 🤔
In some/ many cases a life ban can be counter productive mind. For repeat offenders it probably makes sense but, initially, I do think it's better to give a substantial, but not permanent ban. The theory is that it punishes the offender (assuming they can't just sneak in with another ticket, but that's a risk with a lifetime ban as well) and gives the person something to aim towards which might help in terms of learning and addressing their behaviours, whereas if they know they can never go again there's less incentive to do so. Clubs can give a lifetime ban though, so they might do so regardless

I guess i just believe in zero tolerance on this stuff, as i see it as the only way to crack down on it, and knowing if said party's committed said offences they automatically lose the right to attend matches world wide, however you make an interesting point if they can gain another ticket from a source, which is possible, i don't think this subject has an automatic answer just what a person, believes is right, because surely by now, that answer would have been found, however if the club decide to ban this racist, they deserve credit for doing so, but i suppose once said person is in the hands of the law, let him receive his dues in court.

The Club can ban him from the SOL for life.

Correct. But it's just a civil matter and doesn't really do anything. Would just be ejected if spotted which you'd have to be unlucky in a 40k crowd
the state of society at the minute, I reckon we'll be seeing an increase in cases like this. Racists are becoming increasingly bold and encouraged by the likes of Trump, Musk and reform. If he's banned you'll probably have Musk tweeting to millions about the UK being a police state

Racism has been around since the beginning of human existence and won't dissappear unfortunately, it's nothing to do with "society at the minute"

Racism is a social construct and belief system therefore driven by society. Do you think in the holocaust was just because antisemitism had always been around, or because the Nazis drove antisemitism in society?

Years ago I got lifted out of the crowd at Elland Road and took around the outside of the stadium to the command centre when I went up to the toilet at half time, accused of racist behaviour after Brian Deane was involved the opener and goaded the Away fans.

Got around there and they presented me the CCTV evidence of a bloke 2 rows behind me, in totally different clothes, making monkey gestures. They apologised, second half had kicked off and then they took me back to my seat around the perimeter of the pitch. Cue a number of angry Leeds fans and stuff thrown in my direction.

Seems they might have learned to investigate things properly before making rash decisions.
