Founders bar

Didn’t go in but stuck me head in as I was in the turnstile queue. I asked the steward if I could just walk in at FT and he said after all these have come back in we’ll let a few in as these have first dibs. It was half full then so I asked who all these were cos it wasn’t advertised as open pre match. He said friends and family of people who work at SAFC. Fair enough for a test event I suppose. Fancied going in at FT but the queue already looked too big.
I’m guessing it is friends and family on Tuesday as well. I thought they might have done it for high loyalty point SCHs for the 2nd event but it’s probably too short notice to arrange now

Not bad on first visit. Loads of screens, half showing the lasses cup game, the rest had rugby on. Lad singing in the corner followed by stupidly loud DJ. Mad when you're having to shout at people sitting next to you. Reidy, Monty, Superdick in attendance. You can order food via terminals and collect it from the concourse. Drinks options bog standard, Roker Roar isn't the best, especially when served in a Carling Glass! Hopefully the roving photographer didn't catch me drinking from that.

Looks awful.

The poster earlier who said the seats are behind the away dug out is probably spot on. I do some work with the former players who usually sit in this spot, and they were moved upstairs into the Premier Concourse yesterday.

Looks awful.
One of the big criticisms of the BCB and Quinn’s is not enough seats. You can see they’ve tried to maximise it here which might detract from the overall experience and aesthetic. If they limit it to everyone gets a seat then it’s full it might be alright. If they allow standing too it’s not going to offer much different to the other surrounding pubs.

Its going to be an addition the general sale or season tickets, no specific seating area. if you sit anywhere in the lower bowl you will be able to add the bar package if you desire game by game subject to availability.
I'm pretty sure the club confirmed it was going to be a seasonal only offering?

Is it going to be open after every game for the general public? Called in about 6 30 and it was decent
Nothing decided as yet, they're still testing it out.

They're not against doing that but people are going to be paying for a season ticket that includes access so they will have priority

Where will people sit?
Most will be on the floor come kick off.
is the town busy on non matchdays? If people aren't using the town on non matchdays, I can't imagine those habits changing because the club has a new pub attached to the stadium.

I just think football is becoming more and more corporate. If you're not going to spend hundreds/thousands of £££ then you can stand on a minging concrete concourse and be hassled by arsehole stewards. Even the fanzone was basically a few tables in the car park! We've got Quinn's, BCB, all the suites etc to cater for the corporates. How about the club tries to cater for average Joe as well? They want folk to stop leaving on 80 minutes? Make them feel valued.

Founders is basically an open goal for them and they'll miss by filling the place with corporates.
Reckon there’s plenty of people who will pay the money for a one off day of it, special occasion and the like.

Went in at FT, thought it was spot on, good atmosphere and a decent pint of Roker Roar. Paid 30 quid for 3 pints of Madri, pint of RR and a bottle of Rekorderlig cider. Spotted Reidy on the way out.
I think if they opened a few more of these around the perimeter of the ground it might encourage more people to stay until the final whistle.

It looks like a good space and will do well after the match.

Not sure what you get for your money before the game mind.

eSports won't be using a 5G network. Mind not sure why it needs bandwidth at all, it's all done over LAN.
False. The E-sports campus will be using the new 5G network currently being installed and tested. It needs the bandwidth as the system will be used by fans at the SOL on Matchday / concerts, Customers at Sheepfolds etc. For E-sports it needs to be incredibly efficient and reliable. It's due to host World championship events in e-sports..... and costing £5+ million, so you can imagine the amount of equipment involved. Antennas are already on the SOL roof and in the corporate areas.

Didn’t go in but looked through the door from the West Stand concourse, looked canny,do they do food as well and how much were the drinks
£6 for a pint of the Roker Roar. By the looks of it, most of the others were the same.
Same price as what we paid at Sheepfolds pre-match, but at least they offer a good range of decent ales there. I had one called Decent Days and Nights, named after the Futureheads song!

It's not for me, but I can definitely see the appeal of it pre match for some people.

It'll be somewhere warm and dry with lots of seating, in theory a better pint than you would get on the concourse and you are already inside the stadium so no having to queue for the turnstiles if you want to carry on drinking until basically just before kick off.

Im not sure they really need to offer much more than that to be honest. I'd expect it to do well

Solid post and I agree.

Ideal if it’s pissing down and you can get inside and dry out for an hour or so before KO.

Sounds like it’s another added level to the hospitality offering which is good.

That does sound decent actually. Probably a daft question but do you get a glass or is it plastic? If you get glass, get through the turnstiles and get a space to sit then I'd definitely be tempted with something like that when the bairn is old enough to drink
