Poveda

I see the thread has gone about as well as we’d expect. It is what it is with Poveda. In his presser Regis said he creates opportunities on the pitch. I’d really have liked to see that.

He's another enigmatic player, who if we can;
a) get him fit
b) get him motivated
c) get him to buy into the club ethics
d) get him putting in decent performances by giving him minutes
will be unplayable and create all sorts of problems for opponents.

Unfortunately a has always been an issue, ditto b apparently, but are probably tied in together to some extent. Perhaps encouraging c will help massively with a & b, along with d giving him a chance to showcase the reasons why he was at big names early doors on his career?

His showreels seem to be miles away from what we've seen so far in the flesh but it seems to me that he needs to rediscover the "Eye of the Tiger" before the end of the season or come next season we'd be best served loaning him out or even trying to sell him on given his 4yr (?) contract.

I like him and the fact he's a bit of competition for a misfiring Paddy Roberts (in terms of end product) but thus far performances aren't living up to the hype.

He's no competition for Roberts at all, though.

This season Roberts has 2 goals and 5 assists.

At the age of 25, in his whole career, at Leeds, Blackburn, Blackpool, Sheff Wed, and here, Poveda has 3 goals and 5 assists.

He has absolutely no redeeming qualities. A baffling signing.
I disagree. There are players that we end up with because of either a disability to get on with others or injury issues, someone like McGeady or Pritchard being good examples.

Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.

Sheff Wed fans loved him, and there is definitely a player in there that we might even get some money for if we sold him in the summer.

It's not baffling at all. Just the odds suggesting if we get overlooked gems like Hume, we will also get ones that simply don't work out. And I'd we haven't paid a huge amount on them, then I don't see the issue.

Huggins has been hugely unlucky with injury, some players are, but as we saw with Ross Stewart, sometimes all it takes is one decent season.

He's played the equivalent of 30 full matches during his whole career

So why on earth did we go anywhere near signing a player who had played so little football at the age of 25, let alone offer him a three year deal?

The fact that he is never available to play isn't a positive thing.

I'm saying he hasn't played enough to make a fair judgment funny you don't make derogatory comments about a different player who's played 20 odd games in 4 years
You mean Huggins? The lads been genuinely unlucky. If you can't tell the difference between the two then maybe you're dafter than you first appeared.

😎
Why would you think that's cool?

If the lad does have "problems" I wouldn't think it cool

And that BBC audio robot hasn't posted anything but negativity so far

BBC Newcastle presumably? SAFC having a good season and that thing has started spamming the forum with how many "problems" there are at the club
