I don't think it is a strong accusation. The great managers over the years will have done it, no doubt. Some things better kept "in house" away from the media. You’re suggesting RLB has directly lied to the media? That’s a strong accusation.

Does feel this summer could be different mindCorrect - selling one ‘big player’, each summer is fine and allows us to steadily improve.
Stewart in 2023 and Clarke in 2024
Obviously has some talent there but he needs to be managed in such a way to even get him on pitch that it’s not worth the effort imoBe about 10k I reckon
The only way Neil leaves is premier league. I don't think he'd leave for a championship contract, even if it was slightly more. For the first time I reckon he can make the step up. His performances are a cut above.Does feel this summer could be different mind
Neil, Cirkin & Watson in last 12 months with currently no sign of signing a new contract in championship.
Jobe & Rigg. Could we hold onto them if we don’t go up?
That’s 5 for a start we’d struggle to hold on to.
We’d likely have offers testing the water for Hume, Patterson, Mundle and likely a few others too, although those are the kind of offers the club has done well at turning down in recent years.
Obviously Mepham and le Fee would be away. Add in there’s still a few in the squad we’d likely be open to letting go (Poveda, Adil) and this summer could be the first major rebuild since L1 days
We’d be minted mind so maybe just the next stage of the “process”. And more Wilson, Le Fee type signings?

The earlier they come in, the cheaper they get him and the lesser the opposition.Anyone refusing to sign a new contract will be sold.
I’m not sure any PL clubs are going to come in for Rigg in the summer tbh. They know it would cost a small fortune and he’s been poor for quite a while now.
Neil, Cirkin and Watson will be holding on until the season end in case we get promoted I reckon, more money etc if we’re a Premier League club. Can’t see the first two leaving but Watson has had Brighton after him for a while now so that might happen. Obviously if any of them refuse a new deal then get shot ASAP.Does feel this summer could be different mind

Jobe will be off if we don’t get promoted, I can’t see Rigg leaving, along with the other lads listed below that (apart from Patterson maybe? Definitely would like a new goalkeeper based off his current form).
Just my opinions of course, but similar was said in 2023 and 2024 about everyone leaving and neither ended up like what people thought it would.
I get what you’re saying, but don’t expect all of the above to leave at the same time.Does feel this summer could be different mind

Yeah hope you’re right. I’ve faith the club won’t just roll over though, we’ve done decent on the deals in/outI get what you’re saying, but don’t expect all of the above to leave at the same time.
We have done better than I expected at lining up a replacement (apart from Ross Stewart) with the likes of Mundle/Watson filling Jack Clarke’s shoes
To be fair I’m normally a glass half full type of person so maybe it’s just that talkingCould be different this summer.
We’ve currently 3 in the Clarke or Stewart “situation” this summer and there’ll be a lot of interest in Rigg & Jobe too. Not too mention Hume, Patterson, Mundle and maybe even Mayenda and a few others will have clubs testing the water.
Maybe this summer will also see clearing of the decks with Rusyn, Adil, Ba, Bennette, Poveda, Anderson all away too (if we find willing buyers of course).
Does just feel this could be a changing of the guard if we don’t go up. I’m not having a go at the club, its down to their success on recruitment and bringing through academy players. We simply don’t hold all the cards this time.
Let’s see. Hopefully we go up anyway!
Simple question. Since speakman took over the football side of things is our squad on a totally different level to what it was whilst not having relatively much to spend and overall being in profit?Give owa man I’ve just named 15 dross signings off the top of my head. Add Poveda and it’s 16.
Those listed are on a par with the shite who kept us in League One for 4 years.Alongside players like Rusyn, Aouchiche, Ba, Connolly, Semedo, Michut, Bennette, Hjelde, Burstow, Geldhart, Danns, Pembele, Dack, Bishop, Anderson.
Hahaha what a bitter dafty **** you are, half of them are laughable suggestions.
Gelhardt just tortured us. He also played a good part here. Unfortunately he came in to replace Stewart/Simms, which you can beat Speakman with all night.
Poveda been a naughty boy again.
On the Dack package then……Highest paid Sunderland owned player apparently.
How was Geldhart going to play alongside Stewart? We had Amad playing the 10 role which meant there wasn't a starting spot for him.He didn't come in to replace Stewart he came in to play alongside him but Stewart then got injured pretty soon after, or just before, his signing was confirmed.
As you say in the first half of your post though some of the other suggestions are daft, many of them have actually contributed something.
No idea, I wasn't manager. He wasn't coming in as a direct replacement for Ross Stewart. How was Geldhart going to play alongside Stewart? We had Amad playing the 10 role which meant there wasn't a starting spot for him.
He was brought in as cover to replace Simms. He failed to make a decent fist of it when called upon.
