Patto

The outcome of the game influences people's opinions on individual performances (I'm guilty of this too). We won last night so there isn't as much emphasis on mistakes. I think Patterson is a good championship keeper but as I've said before, we need a better keeper. Too many mistakes and in the Prem it would be even more costly.

So he made a save that any half decent keeper would have 🤷

His command of the area and positioning is absolutely shocking and is costing us a lot of goals.

Hate to disagree with a fellow Jarrow lad.
Patterson is a good keeper and will get better. The attacks on him are unmerited, and undeserved. All they will do is drive (a local lad as well) out of the club. We will regret it.

Sheffield's goal was a shambles all round. Can't remember the last time I saw such a mess as that in a second division match.

Yet again ball given away needlessly and lack of aggression in the challenges that allow their player to get away. Sheffield still only had two men in the box.

What Neil and Paterson are doing, not the first clue. Neil at least make it awkward for the lad, Patterson fuck's sake man.

Comical, shocking and far too easy. We're making a habit of giving the ball away cheaply and not being able to cope when the opposition still have a lot to do.

A good three points to prevent a slide, but undeserved. Need a good performance from somewhere.

Aye, I'd agree.

Looked very poor last night, much worse than the Hull match.

Don't look capable of keeping a clean sheet.

No it isn't.

Name these 'lots' goals he's cost us?
I'm lying in bed in Sheffield hung over right now but I will compile a list when I'm home.

For starters the last 3 games he has flapped when coming for the ball.

The last goal against Leeds, Hulls goal and yesterday.

For me he's nothing more than absolutely bang average. He's never shown anything to say that he will be a good keeper to me.

He wasn't to blame for yesterday's goal for starters.

Mepham has given the ball away and totally took himself out of the game. Dan Neil is running back and should have tried to get inbetween 2 unmarked players. Bizarrely he stops and leaves them in 3 yards of space. Patto tries to spread himself if front of one the unmarked player inside the 6 yard box and gets it wrong. He basically had no chance, dropped in the shit by his defence.

The goal is about 2% the fault of Patto.

It was poor all round. The lack of aggression in the challenges that allowed Sheffield's player to get away, was pitiful.

They were at fault as a team, comedy of errors, but Patterson played his part in that with whatever the fuck he was doing. There's a reason why you very, very rarely see keepers to do that.

Put any keeper against 2 unmarked attackers and they've got no chance. Sorry like but it's that obvious.

Disagree there.
He ran out away from their player as in to collect the cross chest high.
He totally misread the cross

He's not unmarked man, O'Nien is with him. Patterson has to assume the lad Neil left is going to get to it, and let O'Nien deal with the lad at the back post.

The only thing you can say in Patterson's defence is that he shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place, but what he's doing when the ball comes in I've no idea.

They'll be showing that goal at every coaching session around the country for years to come: "look at the state of this, this is not how to defend."

He could have challenged for the cross.
He ran backwards behind their player
How does he know the player is going to cross the ball in the air?

O'Nien was literally nowhere near him!!!
