Mayenda discussion thread

He’s great at getting infront of his man and using his body and pace to draw fouls or create openings.

Needs to start games now heading into the run in with Le fee injured and Rigg in questionable form.

Dare I say 4 4 f***ing 2 with Mayenda and Isador, and Mundle and Roberts on the wings. Let’s f***ing have it Regis!

He’s so hard to play against.

He’s been frustrating at times but he’s young.

He’s a threat every time he plays.

He’s strong and has an ability to hold the ball and get us up the pitch wherever he plays.
He’s direct and causes defenders problems.

I think next year he’ll go up another level for the experience he’s had this year.

Browne didn’t have a clue how to play as the number 10. Has to be playing deep if he’s on the pitch.
He’s been out for a long time so going to take him a while to get up to speed. So hard to judge on that performance.
Having said that though, I ‘d play Mayenda in the 10.
Check every stat available and even then use the eye test… Isidor Is a top class championship striker

Mayenda I rate but he’s miles off Isidor currently
It’s hard to compare on eyes alone because they’re very different to each other. I’m just happy that they’re both very good

He is a different type of forward to Wilson. I don't think Wilson would have peeled off the defender or headed from Hume cross.
Also a few of his runs caused a few issues
Wilson liles the ball played through the middle to run onto whereas Mayenda will run from anywhere and not frightened to have a pop catching keepers off guard

If we do play 442,
Roberts or Watson
Neil
Bellingham
mundle

Wilson
mayenda
Loved the match day thread meltdown. Mayender is the best forward in the club.
Book mark this.
We singed Isidore as a business transaction only.
Cracking business but Isidore won’t be here next year.
I said that to my dad. Fair play to the club as under previous regimes we wouldn't have had the brain cells to do this. The fact Grigg nearly cost the same as isidor is criminal
It's a shame as the lady seems happy and he is a bloody grafter but a £10 million profit in the summer isn't bad business
If we don't go up will be intrigued as to who will go and who will stay

Yep, same applies to Mundle & Watson. Mundle looked decent last night as well I thought.

If he starts we go 442 cos he’s a massive threat through the middle. He can’t play out wide, if he started out wide tonight he doesn’t score those goals.
Agree he’s not a winger and doesn’t have the football iq yet to play there. Through the middle he’s a threat all the time, the lad works his arse off as well. Felt sorry for him the last time he had a good run and Reggie dropped him. Think he’s played his way into the side for the next few games, next game at home go two up top Wilson and him pretty much one of the best forward lines in the league imho.

Isidor is clearly better
He damn well ought to be, Wilson is 5 years ahead of him in terms of his development.

I agree that Eliezer belongs through the middle. But actually the move that set up Browne's chance was classical R Winger play, and showed intelligence, awareness and vision.

Hopefully we can adapt to 2 up top and find some form going into the playoffs. We can’t afford to limp over the line. Need to get there all guns blazing

I think he’s actually a lot better on the ball than he looks at times, underrated how good he is.

He’s a handful and has improved all season. Had a couple of low points with key misses but good to see him get a chance last night and take it well.

Needs to be in a two with Wilson.

I'm no tactical expert so feel free to critique...

To get Mayenda and WIlson playing together centrally, we'd need to go from a single pivot (Neil) to a double pivot (Neil and Jobe) in possession. This would mean ditching the 433 for a 4231 (which you see a lot of in the prem). Right from pre season Regis instilled a model that is based on the single pivot when we have the ball. Would it be difficult to change at this stage of the season? Or is there really not that much difference between a 433 and a 4231?
