And yes, I do think this forum's a good read - plenty good debates about football, lots of useful and helpful stuff on SMB, and I also enjoy the 'word games' etc on parsnip.

What would you do with Carrick? He never comes across as being honest when you lose/draw in games, blames luck/refs etc but I obviously don't see him as much as you. Reminds me of Steve Bruce with that sometimes and I never took to him, even when he was doing well with us, because of it

One of my favorite things about Reg is his honesty, Plymouth home game for example where he said in the end we were lucky to get a point. Which was true. He does this often whilst not throwing players under the bus either. Not saying Carrick does that last part but he always seems to have an excuse

Gibson came out and publically backed Carrick following the Watford defeat. If he was going to sack him I think that was the time to do it.

If we lose tonight and results go against us tomorrow we could find ourselves 7 points off the playoffs. Bringing in a new manager would be pointless because they wouldn't have enough time to turn it around, so I think Carrick will be here until the end of the season regardless of what happens on the pitch.

After tonight you’ve got Stoke, Derby and Swansea. A decent coach would back himself to get a decent haul of points from that run. The competition for the two playoff places still left this season is crackers - no side seem capable of any consistency. Seven points with 12 games to go wouldn’t be unachievable

Possibly, although Gibson may be wanting to wait until the summer, to see if there are better options out there in terms of out of work managers. We're limited in terms of who we can go for because Gibson believes it's ungentlemanly to go for managers who are employed at another club.

Personally I'd have sacked him after the Watford game and brought in Steve Cooper but a lot of Boro fans seemed to be against the idea.

Tbf they've kinda screwed Carrick a bit selling Latte Lath midseason and replacing him with Ihenacho who seems like his game doesn't live upto his name. Combine that with Doak getting injured, is he coming back this season?

Our aim for the season was to comfortably finish in the play-offs and push for the top 2. To be honest, many were hopeful we'd have a similar season to the one Sunderland are currently having. Even with Lath in the side we were well off achieving that.

Ihenacho is looking like he's going to prove to be a poor signing but now is the time for Conway to step up to the plate and deliver. We signed him for £5.3m in the summer. Carrick has been well backed by the Chairman.

Doak shouldn't be too far away from returning but Carrick gives very little away regarding injuries so who knows.

I personally hope you don't make top 6 just because you're a bit like us I think, it's why that game was so entertaining the other week. On your day you are really good going forward, arguably could have killed us off in the first 20 minutes. I don't think any other top 6 contender could do that.

I do think had it finished as a draw at the Riverside it woud have been a fairer result.
