Patto

All the stats comparing him to the other Championship 'keepers suggest that he's significantly better than average - generally around 6th or 7th, so definitely above average. He's still young enough to significantly improve his weaknesses. He's at a similar point in his career to Ilian Meslier - I know who I'd rather have.
Genuine curiosity about the stats you refer to. Are they his or his as part of our defence? If they are his as part of the defence, then I think they are skewed favourably. I ask because I’d be amazed if he is 6th or 7th in distribution or box command. I think he probably is for shot stopping.

Patto comfortably in the divisions top 3 goalies. Same old tripe being parroted everytime we concede a goal. and when the arguments start its all about how shit he is with his feet and how he doesnt command his area. But its plainly bollocks. His passing isnt wonderful but i dont recall him giving a goal away by kicking it to the opposition or by being caught with the ball at his feet. And the old chestnut "he doesnt command his box" has been nonsense for 20years or so, None of them do. Theyre all coached to sit on their line. Hes also one of the best shot stoppers in England - his stats back that up. So all in all. PATTO ISNT THE PROBLEM
Totally agree common sense at last

One mistake he's costs us 40 page thread

Wonder why not the same when he saved us 🤔
Exactly imagine if he was actually a bad keeper man
Oh aye weak header. Lucky ball that went out to them and then a very routine stop/punch completely missed by the keeper
Imagine if he actually was a bad keeper …. Absolute clown shoes on here having a go at the lad

Indicates a lack of progression.

Around October I stated (and got heavily criticised that we won’t gain automatic promotion with three players.

Patterson
Robert’s
Neil

Neil has proved me wrong and demonstrated he can improve performances. Never should have been captain though.

The other two I was bang on.
Spot on mate. I said exactly the same thing and also agree that I was wrong about Neil. I would look for buyers to cash in on Patterson and Roberts. Although they have great strengths they have not made progress in addressing their glaring weaknesses. Neither is good enough for the next level IMO.

What? The first goal he was rooted to his line when the ball went about 30 foot in the air six yards out instead of coming and collecting it.
I’m sorry mate but that’s all preconceived opinions. They view of people looking to blame him every time we concede. There is no way the keeper could be remotely to blame for the first goal. Whatever keeper in the country is in goal that ends up in the net. I’ll give you a challenge. Find one article, press link, commentary that would remotely suggest that Patterson was to blame for the first goal. Find it and post it here. You will find a small cohort of people on here who find an angle to blame him for any time the ball hits the net. That’s all.

Point is a good keeper can be worth a good chunk of points over a season.

Replace Johansson with an average keeper and Stoke are in the relegation zone. Replace Trafford with an average keeper and Burnley are probably fighting for a playoff place. Give Either of those 2 keepers to Leeds and they'd likely be double figures of points clear.
Nah. The point I was replying to was that Patto was an average championship 'keeper (at best). I think he's one of the better one's - Johansson and Trafford are the stand-outs, but, Patto is in the chasing pack, for want of a better term.
As for your post, isn't it a given that very good 'keepers are an asset to every team?

He’s a decent top 6 championship keeper. Still young for a goalie, can still get better. He’s getting more pelters this year and people saying he has gone backwards because the standard of the team as a whole has improved and so he has gone from being one of the better players to just OK.

Form goes up and down. Cirkin was possibly our best player at the start of the season and now is struggling. Neil the opposite.

Your comparing two completely different things
What are the two "completely different things"?

It's the same cross coming in towards two players who are standing yards from each other.

The only thing that is completely different is the fact that Patto is allowed to use his hands to deal with it which makes his job easier

If you're unable to work that out for yourself I'm afraid I really can't help you.
