Southall was easily the best keeper of his generation, but there’s no way he’d be that dominant in this era.Don't know how much you saw of "Neville "f***ing Southall', but he was world class. I'd be delighted to have Southall circa '84-86 in our side.
No... there was early Southall when Everton were the best team in the land, winning the title and the FA Cup - then there was the later, heavier Southall who was still very capable but nothing like the brilliant keeper he had been.Southall was easily the best keeper of his generation, but there’s no way he’d be that dominant in this era.
I’ve no idea how he managed the saves he did with his physique but I really couldn’t see him adapting to the requirements of the modern game.
Same, I think he’s bog standard if thatBe amazed if any decent money is offered for him.
He simply isnt agile enough and has the hand eye coordination of an Auton ! He is a great stand there and make yourself big modern goalkeeperPity Patterson didn’t catch their winner instead of flapping at it
I agree. Both goals could have been prevented by a better keeper. He’s a good shot stopper but the rest of his game is not the standard we need.He simply isnt agile enough and has the hand eye coordination of an Auton ! Enzo Le Fee fails to stop the cross...watch it backWhat were the 3? Because he only made 2 saves in the game
I'm really not sure how anyone can watch their winner last night and say absolutely none of the blame lies with him there.

Like all great players, regardless of their position, he’ll have adapted to the modern game, and he was a fantastic keeper.Southall was easily the best keeper of his generation, but there’s no way he’d be that dominant in this era.

Patto is ok for me. Would not make my top 10 at SAFc starting with Monty. However, it would not worry me if he left. Apart from a few seasons after our last relegation from the Prem we have usually found decent or good keepers.
Mind you I was not a fan of McGloughlin though I accept he was popular on here.
Poor piece of goalkeeping, but he is still a mile ahead of anything else we have on the books at the moment, so we move on.he cost us 2 points last night, cross was into 6 yard box and he completely missed it

When do any of our players stop crosses?Enzo Le Fee fails to stop the cross...watch it back
