Yeah, proper doom and gloom after last season (in hindsight I think we overreacted a little but the last half of last seaosn was just so so bad).Tbf to the op the majority of Sunderland fans thought we'd have a poor season at the time of his posting this thread
Most of them are laughing to be fair.Just made it 75 likes.
I was laughing when liked it.Most of them are laughing to be fair.
Even though we were horrendous in the 2nd half of last season it was obvious we still had a lot of quality. Take out Feb-May last season and we've always been top 6 contenders in this division since coming up.Yeah, proper doom and gloom after last season (in hindsight I think we overreacted a little but the last half of last seaosn was just so so bad).
There was a thread I remember on here after we lost our first game, which was 'good start of the season is a mirage, we'll be back in a relegation fight soon' which I think was much more 'oh, fuck off' then this one because by then we were clearly better than that.
If that's the case just shows you the majority of fans are cluelessTbf to the op the majority of Sunderland fans thought we'd have a poor season at the time of his posting this thread
Not really we had just had a poor season and lost our best at the time in jack Clarke. It was reasonable to think this might be another tough seasonIf that's the case just shows you the majority of fans are clueless
We were never as bad as we shown the back end of last season. Anyone in the right mind could see that. I certainly could. Not really we had just had a poor season and lost our best at the time in jack Clarke. It was reasonable to think this might be another tough season
I really don't think soTbf to the op the majority of Sunderland fans thought we'd have a poor season at the time of his posting this thread
On the sad occasion that will be the final day of this forum, at some point next month, I think they should leave this thread (and only this thread) open for the final discussion before the lights are turned out. Then expect things to get worse, we are no better off than we were last season.
What I don't get about this thread is, a lot of fans expecting an awful start are also having a go now for not being good enough, instead of just enjoying the overachieving they didn't expect going by their comments![]()
Class isn't it. Loads of people expected us to struggle this season and are still moaning with us 4th and in reach of the top two.
It's almost like there's no pleasing them...
That pretty much sums up this place really. Some just love to revel in their own misery. What I don't get about this thread is, a lot of fans expecting an awful start are also having a go now for not being good enough, instead of just enjoying the overachieving they didn't expect going by their comments![]()
It's not so bad when I was drinking as it was a laugh but reading the constant negativity sober is draining.. of course no one is forcing me be hereThat pretty much sums up this place really. Some just love to revel in their own misery.
I’ve got no doubt if we don’t go up this season we’ll see a meltdown from those that were saying we were shite in August.
You can write off, or have fun with, those who are constantly negative, especially those who set an imaginary bar (e.g., we're a big club that ought to be playing in the PL) that is impossible to meet this season so the team never lives up to their standard. The ones that drive me nuts are those who say something positive (usually based on results or performances) and then feel that they have to add a negative caveat (mostly imaginary) to avoid being seen as "happy clappers".It's not so bad when I was drinking as it was a laugh but reading the constant negativity sober is draining.. of course no one is forcing me be here![]()
My concern is it that it's something that can obviously cause them emotional harm...it can seriously ruin some people's weekends on here. It's important for the lads to do well but in my opinion it's not the end of the world..but im not going to tell anyone on here how to live their lives. It's their choice. You can write off, or have fun with, those who are constantly negative, especially those who set an imaginary bar (e.g., we're a big club that ought to be playing in the PL) that is impossible to meet this season so the team never lives up to their standard.
