Is this a good place to recommence the 1879 v 1880 debate? :lol:

Seriously though there are a few decent suggestions for the name in existing threads (including this suggestion) so why start a new thread with the one you like? You can simply add it to the other thread if it's something new. Which it isn't.

I'll let you off since you're in the reserves and feel the need to assert yourself :lol:.

A public vote is usually a choice between a list of suggested name .. the letter is to get James alien's name on the shortlist!.......Personally i would do the pragmatic thing and call it the sheepfolds bridge or if i was being more esoteric the James Allen bridge but the bridge of light as a name for me also has a shine to it!

James Allan did form SAFC but unfortunately he ended up as a splitter who formed Sunderland Albion.

My suggestion would be FW Taylor. Known as “Mr Sunderland”, Taylor was one of the most famous men ever in the history of Sunderland AFC Boards.

It's an author who was involved with a certain former historian of SAFC who I believe had a 'reputation' on this forum for extremist views

I'd personally vote against anything them two come up with.

I have nee idea of the barney going on here but to vote against something because somebody you dislike suggested it is a tad bonkers .even a stopped clock is right twice a day ..an idea should be scrutinised on its merits and not its progenitor!
