I find this rainbow hate all a bit silly, really. For close to twenty years I have had weekly e-mails to my website from well-meaning Bible folks in America calling me and my work all sorts. One of my favourite e-mails ended with 'Don't forget God made rainbows cool first'. Followed by the usual line saying they will pray for me. If only they knew I'm a christian, regularly attend mass and that it doesn't have any effect whatsoever on me fancying and loving whoever I want. And yet my 'sins bring tears to the eyes of Jesus' and I'm 'the weed in the Lord's Garden'. Rainbows are natural. Am so am I.

Couldn't agree more, it seems to be a very common theme in Brexit voting areas too. They all read the same papers, follow the same politicians and share the same views, no matter what the subject is. They throw the 'woke' comment around without understanding what it even means.

My Grandparents were lovely folk but their views on race ,religion and gender/sex would be extreme in the modern world but it was the everyday language of the day and they would not conceive it as anything wrong ...now as i look back i used put it down to ignorance and lack of societal education as i thought they did not know any better!I have no idea why or how those views cling on in today society but im 100% sure that my grandparents if they were living their lives today they would not share them !

Went to see a comedian lately and he did a bit about grandmas and how it’s not okay to swear around grandma but racism and homephobia is fine

Its hard not to look back and see an element of the powers of the day keeping the working class ignorant as a form of control as they feared an educated working class and these petty rules and norms are a part of that!
