Sunderland Hummel Equality Jersey

That line always amused me , I see things every day and I just scroll past them.

Comments like that though show why people can't be comfortable in being themselves. Next will be where is the t-shirt that promotes straight people.

I think these people have genuinely no idea how hard it is to come to terms with who you are and how life will be full of ignorant replies

People who say stuff like that are usually in the closet. Why else would you be bothered? Love / hate relationship and all that.

No and why should there be 7 to 10 percent gay? What if they just aren’t gay ever thought of that? Lad culture it’s like anything I like work school etc lad culture will always exist in some cases that’s a good thing why would ya try and say it isn’t? A just don’t get what people like yourself expect? No swearing no groups of lads? I haven’t been told to be against anything a go to the football and when I watch football i only wanna see and hear about football why do people like ya self think that is also so wrong?

So what are we meant to do go to a match and protest about racism and places taht dknt accept m gay people? I’m being serious here what do you want from the poople who go to matches? Are we not allowed to just be interested in football?
f***ing hell hahaha

Exactly, to me it doesn't matter what gender you are attracted too, just as long as you are not an absolute d*ck.

That's all that really matters , but yes I bet half these on social media are in the closet and if that's true I feel sorry for them.

As someone who is LGBT+ and doesn't have issues going to the match I personally have a big issue with this top. It's all good banging on about raising awareness (not sure what it's really doing but hey ho).

But my big problem is where is the money going? I'm not aware of it going towards any LGBT+ charities, if they're keeping it to thereselves it's just corporate greed and the worst of the worst. Can't stand companies who profit off pride. It's scummy behaviour and capitalism at it's worst.

That's an interesting take but I kind of see your point. Although it will be extra money to the club so that's fine by me.

On a separate note I have a gay relative who isn't very supportive of the whole rainbow thing and he finds it patronising when people suggest he should be,

Yet I've seen someone on this thread saying they would ban people from football who don't like the rainbow shirt. Utterly bizarre.

I actually think the shirt looks quite smart but it's not going to be for everyone and it shouldn't have to be.

Does your work promote these issues? We go to football for football because it’s our choice we’re not there to be educated or have stuff rammed down our throats

10000 crowds at the sol with no atmosphere at all if that were the case. I want this club promoted that’s it anything else if I was interested in it I would take notice or learn about it in my own time

RAMMED DOWN THROATS KLAXON!

So you're saying bigots make up the atmosphere at the SOL?
That's pretty offensive in its own right.

The club is looking out for its fans from all walks of life. It's promoting itself while doing so.
In women's football however... ;)

I'd say there's also a much higher level of acceptance in women's football and those who follow it.
In fact, I'd say that is indeed, a fact.

Ah. Hello!
Yes, you can not like the shirt, just like you can not like any shirt. That's a matter of taste.
However, if you are against the shirt, the laces, the ball existing, then we have a problem.
It's not harming people in anyway, nor is it promoting "an agenda".

Don’t offended just don’t care which seems to bother you. Typical that you presjme
What others are thinking for questioning something. Like I have asked what can we do then if people aren’t happy to go to matches or whatever? The whole stadium hold up pride colours? No groups of lads wvery footballer come out gay? what do you and others want to happen to show that football is inclusive?
How about for people to stop being homophobic, racist, transphobic, misogynistic etc etc and just enjoy the football?
There are stories week in week out about abuse before, during and after football matches, at the game and online...Just look at Willock at Newcastle, got dogs abuse when then didn't win the other week then is all of a sudden a hero when he scores twice.
It's fair enough that you just want to go and enjoy the football but so do people of a minority background and they (currently) aren't able to because they experience discrimination. If there was no discrimination there probably wouldn't be any rainbow laces, bucket hats or football tops. Unfortunately there is and sometimes raising awareness, educating others etc is necessary.

Hi

I'm just pointing out that not all gay people care about the rainbow thing and it would be harsh to ban people like that for being critical. But maybe you didn't mean it in that way.

Not going to lie I can totally relate with the rainbow stuff. Hate the stereotypical view that all LGBT+ want to dance to Lady Gaga, drink pink cocktails and are scared of men. It's just not true. In reality a fair chunk just go to match and no-one knows any different because why would they? It's a football match not a dating session.

Obviously it keeps some people happy though and it's all good.

Side note for that the LGBT community is one of the most toxic around with a lot of sides within it. Like everyone bangs about straight men hating trans but the biggest hater of trans really are the LGB community themselves as they don't want to be associated with the controversy about sports etc. As someone who doesn't get involved, reading some of the drama online is quite amusing at times.

I know there's a lot of people who hate the new flag with 20 colours aswell.

Indeed!
Like I say, there's a difference between not being keen on a shirt because you don't like the way it looks - many didn't like the pink/purple away kit from a few years ago - but to not like it because of its link with LGBT is bargain basement bigotry.

You're talking about bookies and betting companies right? It is a problem and the rise in advertising and constant messaging has risen phenomenally over the last 20 years, with football fans particularly targeted.

You ever seen it happen cos I haven’t. or are you referring to these people from backward country’s that set up fake profiles on Twitter and post racist stuff? Nothing and a mean nothing is stopping them mate sorry to say

It’s a genuine question mate why do you want people to come out so bad when they might be straight?
Has the club ever asked anyone to do this?

They’ve just released a football shirt, which you have the freedom and choice to ignore.. but you haven’t because it has upset you.
So what do you expect to happen now is my question? Or what can ya match gojng fans do to make the world not racist? Backseat people in football seem to think we’re helping the world with this obsession. Funny how people bang on about it on social media n sky but nk
One goes to the match n says let’s talk about equality instead of watching the football

It gets kids talking. They might ask' what's all this about dad?',and you can have a bit of a conversation with them about it. It acts as a gateway to a conversation you might not have had. I remember the taking the knee gesture opened a few conversations with me and the kids. Surely this is a good thing?

I'm sorry , that makes absolutely no sense

I would like to live in a world where gay people can come out and not face the issues that still exist. Yes it's a lot easier now, but still ignorant views and awful comments are clear
How are they clear? What’s happened?
