India v England second ODI - 8am

We really need to start giving some other spinners opportunities, Rashid can't go on forever and it'd be nice to actually play 2 in these conditions

Terrible tour up to now.

Has to be said though India are a brilliant white ball cricket team by far away the best in the world.

Already had good sides but the depth due to the growth of the IPL and talent coming through is never ending.

A couple of our players would not make their third team
Nope last World Cup showed Australia are still the team to beat

They are excellent.

They have a population of 1.4 billion and cricket is their top sport. The IPL has brought about a massive improvement of their professionalism in terms of batting, bowling and fielding.

But I said hours ago thay they could get 400 today. The only way to stop them is pressure. 300 isn't pressure and stupidly we settled for that.

India a better side imo, and played the far better cricket over the course of that tournament.

Fair play to Australia they were better than India a lot better in the final.
By far and away is pushing it. They’ve not won the World Cup since 2011
Yeah they have definitely underachieved when it has counted in the big games that’s a fair observation.

But it’s also fair to say at the moment taking both white ball formats into account they the stand out team, the quality in depth they have far outweighs other teams.

They are going to knock these off in less than 40 overs.
Tempted to press the panic button and bin Buttler the captain before champions trophy
Why not. He's not keeping wicket and still can't inspire anyone.

Not sure who would step up though?

Really thought Brook did a good job before, Root could do it for the tournament

I struggle to understand Mcullums strategy when playing in conditions which dictate two front line spinners
Spinners weren't the issue. Livingston could have bowled 10 easily enough, he was only going just over 4 an over. Root there for back up too.

The batting was the issue. We've gone into the series with only one spare batter, Smith who is injured for 2 of the 3 games! He should have been sent home and replaced. Then Bethell got injured and we replaced him with Overton who isn't an all rounder.

With the existing squad the only thing we could have done is drop Mahmood who is a number 11 and played Carse who can bat a bit.

Root played his normal acculation game which he's been picked to do but Brook was scoring more slowly at the other end. He was going at less than 60 per 100 balls when he should have been around 100 at least. We basically (nearly) saw out the overs instead of going for a competitive total.

We put ourselves in a position of expecting Buttler or Livingston to score heavily at about 150+ which was too big an ask.

Brook's passive innings lost us any chance of winning the game. It was obvious at the time, I called it out. The backroom team should have passed a message on to the pitch. I assume they stupidly thought it was OK?

We were 50 + runs short of a competitive total... you have explained why.
