Does anyone care?

We gave up on both cups by playing reserve teams. The mags are in one final and with top 5 making CL I suspect thdte where they will be next year. Who cares whether they progress or not in the FA cup, if they go out why would anyone on here care?

I’m not sure I agree.

Not giving a decision, is in itself a decision.

So saying you can’t give a decision unless you’re certain doesn’t work. I don’t think it’s any more palatable to allow a bad goal as it is to disallow a good goal. They’re both wrong.

So I think a ref should go with being 51% sure. The trick is being mint at refereeing and judging so you don’t have many of those to make.

I haven't 'dug in', I've stated my view that an official being 'certain' is a myth that gets spouted by Don Goodman and the like. My view isn't going to change because a few people on a message board disagree.

Let's say the debate was around whether it was a corner. If the linesman thought it was a corner but wasn't certain, should he just give a goal kick instead?

Spot on. If the linesman kept his flag down, he has made the decision that it's not crossed the line. If he thinks the ball has crossed the line, he raises his flag.

I really don't get how it can be any other way.

That’s fair enough. But his position was a good distance from the line,so purely made a guess

At some point there is “discretion “ there always has been, just Var used correctly SHOULD eliminate it.

As I say though, it is ALWAYS the bigger teams that benefit.
