Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

They must be confident he’s going to pen a new deal or he’d have been away for that sort of money.

IMO. Obviously. Of course

Reckon they we were happy to sell for that package given the length of time he had on his contract but haven't been able to get a quality replacement in time. Unless we go up, he'll be gone in the summer for similar fee regardless if its 18 month or 12 left on his deal.

For the owners, we the fans are not getting that. I hate how people get excited over the money the owners are making.

These owners have shown that they don't put even half of the fee back into the team! If we get 12 millions for him, we'll be lucky if they spent 2 million on a replacement. The rest will go on running the club, like upkeep/maintenance, taxes, wages, marketing, foghorns... and some will be pocketed by the owners as profit.
There is a lot wrong with this statement.

Wages, signing on fees, and transfer fees should be considered together.

Even if you wanted to count them seperately, the season we sold Stewart we signed Rusyn, Seelt, Mayendar, Jobe, Hjelde, Aochiche, and a few others. That would have been more than Stewarts fee.

Then this season we signed Isidor, Abdullah, and Aleksic for fees probably close to the Clarke deal.

If you look at the full picture the signing on fees for Browne and Poveda would push that up. Contract renewals would push it further. Then there are fees/wages for Mepham and Le Fee.

The club appear to be investing a lot more than they have been bringing in on player sales.

Tommy Watson looks a really good talent and no doubt will go on to do well but im suprised we have rejected 13M for him. Hes only played 5 First team games or so. Only got 18 months left on contract

It's incredibly brave from the club to turn down such a big offer for a player who is yet to establish himself.

Fingers crossed we can now tie him down to a long term contract.

Many Arsenal fans wanted Adingra last summer! Looks like we’ve really payed hard ball and called Brighton’s bluff, I’m pleasantly surprised. He’s one of our own, losing him to Brighton would have been symbolically a shitty situation.

Have they needed to spend 12 million just because they've received 12 million for a player ? Is that how it should work ?

We sold Stewart for 10 million. We bought Isidor for 4 million. Not bad.

Still reckon it could go through. If it doesn't for that sort of money after playing only a few matches, it tells us what the people who watch him every day think of his potential. Must have some future this lad.
