Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Why? Nothing what you said makes any sense at all man. Take your Sunderland glasses off. Again, is jobe a bellend or is it ok because he signed for us?
You're telling a Sunderland fan to take his Sunderland glasses off when it comes to a situation involving Sunderland football club. Not going to happen and neither should it.

I genuinely don’t think I’d take 20m for the lad. I think his ceiling is much higher.

It also means we have to scramble around in the final day of the window trying to get another LW when we already need a RW.

One who can come in and learn the system we play and build those relationship's, we are at the business end of the season and simply cannot be f***ing around chopping and changing. We need to go for automatics.

Good job you’re not the owner then.
If I was I’d very seriously consider that a young lad with 12 (yes that right) games in senior football was attracting a 7 figure transfer.
It’s a business.

If I was the player I’d be looking into playing at the highest level possible and creating myself.
I’d be looking to see if the players there are better so I’d be training with to improve my game.

Funny how some fans have an entitled opinion. We were in league one not long ago.

Some fantastic clubs in the prem.

Yes a lot on here would, meltdown incoming.
He's from here. He knows the bloke that runs the newsagents on the corner and other such utter dross that gets spouted on here by folk that mustn't take notice of how football operates

When you’re getting to the point that you’re calling 18 year olds bell ends. Then you really should start thinking about it

We have to be fair with him aswell, the contract offer has to be a good one. If we took the piss with a shit extension then I'd get him wanting to leave but as it stands I genuinely think this is one of the best places for him.

Aye, a fair solution for all involved. He's not going to get the money a top flight club can offer, but if his reported salary is correct then it looks to me like there is a lot of room for a pay rise.

Reckon he needs to keep grounded in terms of what that pay rise should be though.

Brighton fans aren’t happy at all with our valuation
Who gives a fuck, he’s a big part of our squad we are in a promotion race it’s gonna take a massive premium as always in a jan window. They’ve just turned down £75m ffs for mitimo? Don’t think they can speak on valuation's. They’ve had teams bent over a barrel for their players Chelsea has almost paid for their clubs running for the past five years man. Cough up what we deem acceptable or jog on.

Aye, I'm pretty confident that at 18 years old I'd think I was better off with my family, mates, the area and a club that gives young players a game for a couple of years and then have a think about it. As it stands, he's not going to play in the top flight so what's he going to do.

To be fair to him, if his reported salary and the salaries of other players are correct, then I too would be looking for a pay rise. Not greedy though. Fair for a lad who has broke into the first team and looks like he has a promising future, but yet still 18 and only played a handful of matches. A balance somewhere.
But earning more than a million quid a year he can take his family with him if he really feels he needs to. You’re right he probably isn’t going to play in the premier league but they seem to be really good at this plus no reason he can’t go on loan to the championship. So basically still plays at the same level and earns miles more at the same time

Would be gutted to see him go, but I'm at least confident in the club that him going will only happen if they don't see him signing a new deal here.

Ironically, Watson is exactly the type of player that the model is looking for, and SAFC is the type of club that aspiring young players are looking for, so.......

I'm going to say that this is all manoeuvering for a decent first team contract and we should have been looking to do this with him and Neil, even before this ended up in the press.

Do you know him?

Fallacy. Untried kid like him nowhere near the first team for them will not be 30k week. Less than half that. He’ll get a raise from here but it won’t be that significant.
There is no way he is moving for 10m plus if correct and getting less than 15k a week off a premier league team.
