Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

The club may “accept” an offer but ultimately it would be down to the lad himself. The club probably say words to the effect of “we would love you to stay and sign a new contract but this offer is on the table and acceptable to us so if you want to talk to them….”

At 18, living at home, brother in the acadamy and getting first team football for his boyhood club think it would be a big ask if he went. Yea, I’m sure the money would be more but probably not significantly so as he’s unproven and wouldn’t be getting first team football.

I’ll call it that he’s still here come Monda neet.
needs to shit or get off the pot . :" look Tommy weve had £10m offered . Heres a pen sign this very decent new contract we really want you , if not were taking it. We cant make you go of course but as an 18 year old you'll play ressies till you sign or we get a similar offer you will take "

10 million quid up front would change it. All depends on how good the club think he's going to be. 10 million for a lad who has barely played a few games seems a lot, but 10 million quid for a lad who the club think has a big future is not that much.

Either way, if the lad has anything about him, he'll tell them all to fuck off and stay where his family, mates and club are.

Aye maybe….

Plenty took the money and done nowt. Like Clarke going to Spurs….

And if he’s disappointed with his opportunities here what does he think he’ll get at Brighton where he has half a dozen ahead of him. I guess tge 15k a week or more Woukd soften the blow like, but if he really backs himself he’ll stay here. Like Rigg, who despite being humble knows his time will come..

If he wants to go then I think if you can get them up near 10m with a sell on then we will have to take it. Ideally Ferguson on loan as well but I’m dreaming there I think

Anyone going for 10 million (would likely have to be more) is going to get a very good contract offer. These things, along with signing fee, agent fee etc… tend to be related. As someone said I’d imagine he would jump onto a long term contract on at least one third/half of the average premier league salary. Which would be 20k a week plus.

I think he will make it. He has all the ability. But any 18 year old looking at a 5 million quid plus multi year contract would have to massively back themselves for the future to walk away from that.
