Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

If he's a decent lad, he'll sign a new contract with an agreement he can go for a release clause fee (equivalent to any current best offer, if there is one) if we don't get promoted (the release clause increases if he performs to the end of the season and he scores goals). If we are promoted then he can stay and be rewarded with a suitably enhanced contract, if he's earned it

Piece of piss - he can look after us as we've looked after him.
I get what you are saying but if he wants away then in his shoes why should he sign that. The fact is the club would sack him off in a heartbeat if he wasn’t good enough.
£10m is some jump from £2m like.
I don’t think they were ever coming in with 2m. I know they will want a good deal but they are not daft

As soon as could tie Rigg down we did and he accepted. There’s no way we haven’t tried to do same with watson.

I want him to stay but my point is the misty eyed fan outlook believing these lads look at things like supporters when they don’t.

An injury, loss of form etc and a big move might not come again. One big transfer to prem league and you’re set up for life now.
If he doesn't want to sign then sell him. I don't want no one here who isn't happy here

Sounds like we are gonna reach a deal with myself

I just don’t fuckin get it

Be piss poor by club and I usually back them on most things
What don't you get mate? It's not the club's fault, players want the money and premier league football. From our point of view he isn't even first choice so if he goes, and it's still an if, we are getting money for someone who has played half a dozen games

Why on earth would an asset be allowed to run down his contact?

I expect better from you mind, sort of daft question I’d expect from Pancho 😉
He signed his first professional contract in September 2023. It still has 18 months to run.

It's quite common for the club to sort existing contracts out after the transfer window shuts as during it is their busiest time of the year.

As I said, I wouldn't know if he's been offered a new contract last year, this year or ever.

I’d hope he would give it a few months and see where we end up.

We are end of Jan and the season ends in May. If we were mid table and he wasn’t a local lad I’d understand. But we are right in the mix and conceivably he could be a premier league player with us his home town club whilst still an 18 year old. With all the career and financial benefits that brings.

I suppose the flip side is if Brighton have put a big money multi year contract on the table then he might be thinking that’s not guaranteed to happen in the summer.
