Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Maybe £5m with 45% clause ??
No to cheap. Watson better than Clarke. If Clarke is £15M then Watson 4-5 years is £30M. It’s a lot of money and many players coming in the door to find another talent at his age poor decision if we don’t structure a deal that would be a long term win for Sunderland

People really do expect ridiculous fees based on very little so far.

Is the going for Clarke on loan crack just lazy or is there something in it?
Nowt in it.
If Ipswich were to loan him to us and he lashed in ten goals to get us promoted while they passed us on the escalator going down they’d be a laughing stock. Which is why Everton took Sims back and stuck him in the stands for the rest of the season.

Can't remember their names now, full back and a winger for about £2.5m apiece ?
Will Buckley and Liam Bridcutt.

Bridcutt was a holding midfielder but a fullback, Poyet said he would even sign him if he was Real Madrid manager.
And look how it worked out for them...
Not sure what you mean by this? I already said “what a change in our respective fortunes”, which already covers the point I think you’re trying to make.

KLD and JS won’t be long enough to see the benefit of a future loaded deal either. Plus those deals make it harder to value a club……..”…..if Tommy does this and Jobe does that and Riggy does the other you’ll get yer money back that you’re paying us for the club your eminence/Tex/ Pedro etc etc etc”

No club will progress selling their best players
If the owner wants to see us compete & be a premier league club we have to hold on to the likes of Watson , if he goes it confirms his lack of ambition
Jesus man, grow up.

He’s not “one of our best players”, he’s played a handful of games.

If a PL club wants to sign a kid with 18 months on a contract, and he won’t sign an extension, it doesn’t give the club a lot of options.

People desperate to have a go conveniently ignoring that we kept Rigg against all odds, rebuffed offers for Jobe among others in recent windows.

Too many moaning bellends on here who really don’t deserve to see us have any success because all they do is criticize and complain at every opportunity.

Embarrassed to be in any way associated with many on this board, thankfully it’s not reflective of the wider support.

If we get an acceptable offer he’ll be gone!

He has opportunity to go to premier league and probably quadruple his wage.

The sentimental bollocks on here from grown men talking about how this his home town club, will want to get us to premier league etc is embarrassing.

People still think Clarke made a mistake joining a Premier League club man. No reasoning with some of them.

Based on us not having to, or wanting to sell. Based on how class he looks. Based on how much Brighton paid the mags for Minteh (who hadn’t even played a game for the mags yet).

Not based on ‘very little’.
18 months contract left, of course we don't have to and I don't think we will sell. But he has had a handful of games in the championship, is currently injured. Minteh had two full seasons behind him including a good loan at feyenoord and a longer term contract still. I don't think we will sell but expecting more than we got for Clarke after two outstanding seasons, when the lad has 430min game time in the championship is ridiculous

He’s already shown he’s going to be a top player , anyone with a football brain can see that ……..
