Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Am I the only one who doesn't see the massive doom on this one?

There's only 3 years between him and Mundle and personally, as things stand, I don't see him starting games ahead of Mundle if/when both are fit and he looks a little bit away from that sort of level at the minute.

No doubt he'll go on to have a good career and he looks an excellent talent, but if we can get a decent fee for a player who has 18 months left on his deal and is likely to be second choice in his own position behind a player who is only 3 years older than him, I don't see a massive issue.

I'd love to keep him don't get me wrong, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. The kid probably doesn't even know if he'll ever be first choice ahead of Mundle here currently.

Mundle isn't even fit and you need depth to get promoted. To have both of them on the left wing is one of the glowing aspects of our squad. I think it would be a big mistake to sell him now and would be incredibly shortsighted. He has a great future and is already starring in the Championship.

18 months left is the issue for us here
He’ll know financially he’ll better his terms big style
If he won’t sign new deal best fee we’ll get is now
Frustrating if it happens but is what it is hopefully helps us invest elsewhere if he goes

We didn't invest the £15m+ we got in August.

They have a million quality wingers. If he goes there he’ll disappear for a few years then be loaned out to a lower championship team. He’d be more sensible to stay here for a while.

Can’t blame KLD if Watson goes. What do you do with a player with 18 months left and wont sign a new contract?
While we have a chance of promotion we absolutely keep him till summer at least, Watson is better player than Mundle IMO. Dan Neil only has 18 month left on contract, are you selling him as well?

Has Watson been rejecting contracts? If not, how on earth has he got to the stage of only having 18 months left?

I think the club have been very proactive in contract extensions over the last few years.

Very little they can do it a player doesn't sign one, they can't force him into it.

There's no way on earth that they won't have been in negotiations with him over the last year.

Barring any future injuries Watson will end up being a far superior footballer than Jack Clarke

He was unhappy not being involved in the first team at end of last season but got his chance and was looking very good until the injury.

Why’s he’s down to his last 18 months and he’s so highly rated ?

He's only had a few appearances in the first time.

Got to be honest, it's shite from Watson, we've invested the time and money into developing him, he's not signed a new contract and has jumped at the first opportunity.

Fair play to players like Rigg who at least have repaid the club by committing for a few years.

And cirkin.

We are going to have a big rebuild this summer if we don't go up imo. Absolutely bonkers the club are sitting on their hands in the market.

Watson signed the same length contract rigg did. 3 years is the maximum at 17.
