India v England 3rd T20i. 28th January 2025

Yeah a lot of England fans didn't like some of the things he did- the dropping of Alex Hales for example- but his record as leader speaks for itself.
Exactly. I was another one who criticised him towards the end too. Thought he was too authoritative. Little did I know how unbelievably good at man managing he was. Got the best tune out of so many players. Miss his leadership skills.

What's he doing now? We should be trying to get him back in the fold in some capacity

I think he just commentates now.

He'd make an ideal coach.

I thought McCullum would at least bring the swagger and confidence back from the Morgan era, but it's just more of the same so far. Early days of course mind.

England 2-0 down.

Carse the pick of the players for us in the 2nd game.

There will probably be changes for this game I would expect.
Can we call Root up? Surely the higher the grade the better the practice for Chanpions Trophy. I know he's doing well in SA but surely bolstering our batting lineup would be better for all parties.
Root and Bairstow for Salt and Bethel.

Root and Jamie Smith? I like Bairstow but feel it would be too much of a step back.
I can't believe how quickly our white ball team has deteriorated since Morgan left. Absolute shadow of the world champions a couple of years ago.

Where's the swag? The confidence?

Can't remember the exact place but it was the world Cup immediately after being champs in both. We were dogshite and tanked so badly. Think it was odi WC in India. Since then we've been a shadow of what we were

Root is in the squad for the ODIs and then Champions Trophy, can’t see they’d bring him across for the next 3 T20s

I kind of knew that mate. Just having a rhetorical moan because he's not there now. Exacerbated doesn't come close. He's by far the best batter to have graced our shores. A bloody good t20 player to boot. Not playing him is bloody illogical to say the least.

Yeah I agree. I get the fact they want to rest him, but he’s playing cricket anyway….

Exactly. Doesn't make sense. Unless Joe has had enough of India like the rest of us and fancied a month or two chiling in SA. I wouldn't blame him like. Im just being selfish, wanting our best player to play every single England game.
