India v England 2nd T20i, 25th January 2025

There is no way in the world Jamie Overton should be in this side, he is not a international cricketer and totally perplexed by his selection.

For example would he get in Surreys T20 side if they had to pick between him or Sam Curran not a chance!

Not saying Curran should be in this side mind that just a example but better quality options than Overton lot better imo

Root in the lineup just levels up the whole team. Not sure why they are being so zany to exclude our best ever batter. Unless Joe's said something and wants less workload to manage his long term goals. It makes no sense whatsoever him not playing ODIs, arguably in T200Is too.

If you go on Cricinfo now. You get every player domestic T20 record batting and bowling for each team and each season.

Overton has been the standout finisher batsman in domestic T20 for English players(just see his recent Adelaide Strikers form).

That's why he's in the team. There's nobody else doing what he's been doing batting in that 6-7 position.

All the best T20 players now open or bat 3 and it's created a problem in a lot of sides that 4-7 don't have a clue how to bat if the top 3 don't fire.

Both Buttler and Livingstone really could open but then it unbalances the rest of the team. Even some of Brook best innings in T20 recently have come opening.

Joe Root now opening the batting too when he was always that anchor at 3 previously.

Changes for tomorrow-

Carse for Atkinson
Jamie Smith on standby for Bethell who is recovering from illness.

It's like they just fall for the tree card trick every time.
Suppose when theirs close to zero jeopardy to losing your place...

20/20. 6 overs in first half hour.

12 an hour worse than test match over rates.

The format is dying a slow death.
