Really minor annoyances

When ever you buy anything online nowadays you're constantly bombarded by emails asking 'How did we do?'
You did fine, I paid for the stuff and you arranged for delivery, I then received it. If you ignore them you get another email, then another, then another . . . until you get sick and fill in a review just to shut them up. Then you get annoyed at yourself for giving in to their demands. Then they'll bombard you with measly 5% off offers for then until eternity.
That happens when you book self catering accommodation via various agencies - or even hotels in booking.com.

I got so sick of constant reminders to comment or rate some cottages in Scotland once that I accessed the website/s and rapidly rated them all a random ‘7’ or ‘8’ for everything. No additional comments.

But one cottage owner contacted me and asked for an explanation for my ‘low rating’. If I recall correctly I simply responded that I’d remove the review and left it at that, explaining that I was simply generically clicking boxes because I was sick of getting reminders.

The owner then E-mailed me explaining how upset she’d been and that she’d been in tears all morning. I actually didn’t think that 7 was that bad. And I’d removed it anyway.

But it had the impact of convincing me never to return to that location again.

Use of the word "kids". No idea why but I dislike it intensely. Try not use it at all.
Our new headmaster back in late 60's, early 70's sent a letter out to all the parents referring to us schoolchildren as "kids" Me mother went ape, demanded to see him & wanted to know why he was referring to us kids a s baby goats! Think it was the only time she did owt like that...

Hotels.com send you an email to let you know it’s confirmed, then one for expenses, then a the hotel has sent you a message, then please fill this in before check in and now as I said I’d check in around 8pm an email at 8:05 asking how was check in, in bit even checked in, then like you say another 2 tomorrow about rating the hotel. I’d love to know the open percentage of their emails as surely most just delete straight away.
