Jack Clarke

If Ipswich come back down does Clarke take a pay cut?
On another observation, promotion and subsequent survival seems harder than ever.
No one but the club and his friends, family and agent will know for sure The vast majority of PL players have a clause in their contracts to that affect/effect/?? It depends how desperate Ipswich were too sign him and seeing as no one else was in for him and they’ll know they’d be amongst the favourites to be relegated I’m 99.9% sure he will do.
Not easy, just seems to be gettIng harder.
Id put money on the finishing positions of newly promoted clubs ower the last 50 years backing you up there.

I found him frustrating, almost as frustrating as Roberts, thought we would miss his goals from the good patch he had. Outside of that patch I am sure his stats were average. Happy to be proved wrong. Either he chose to leave, we chose to sell him or both, I am not too bothered. Personally I think we look more balanced without him and he wouldn't necessarily fit how Regis wants us to play.

Scattergun recruitment, stockpiling talent in the hope that something sticks, and if it doesn't it's there for when they come back down.

I think people give him way too much credit.
Certainly possible. Has to be some form of nonsense, precious little that has happened since the transfer makes sense. He was never going to replace the full back that actually plays the wide role and they've bought another two advanced players that can play from the left, neither of whom are out and out wingers?

At least 3 recently promoted clubs in the top10 right now. If you add Villa, Fulham and Newcastle that's 6. Forest with an outside shot for the title.

I think there's too many bad teams go up ill-equipped.

Look at our league this season for instance. If Burnley, Sheff United or Leeds gan up, they'll come straight back down, and hard.

They've just about got the Championship sussed, with top championship journeymen and shit house tactics. But it'll not wash in the Prem.

We're a bit of a different proposition. Young lads who've not hit their ceiling, playing proper football. That of course brings it's own problems. We've a bit of a soft underbelly, we don't take our chances when on top, and we could be bullied in the Prem. Add to that it can be naïve to go toe-to-toe with a Premier League side in an actual game of football. Southampton have shown that naivety this season.

Still, I'd fancy us up there over the other three. We'd just need a few astute signings and show a willingness to adapt game to game.

I quite like that McKenna, and I think he's done a great job there. And I still think they have a chance. But he doesn't seem to be any closer to finding his best XI.

Doesn’t happen anymore. PFA and club solicitors make sure of that. Stick a first team squad player in with the kids or on his own who doesn’t agree to be there and the clubs in breach of contract and employment law. Player walks away on a freebie with everything paid up if he wants too.
Good. It was always a nasty ploy.

Mundle & Watson are getting better the longer they are out mind, imagine folk saying they wouldn’t have Clarke over them. :D

I don't think they're saying they're better than Clarke like (or they shouldn't be), it's just that there's no need to hinder Watson/Mundle's development by bringing him back.

Not only that, but they're both good enough in that position in their own right. There's no reason to replace them with someone else; Clarke or otherwise.

Due to Mundle's an Watson's injuries I'd have him back in a heartbeat. Never gonna happen though.
They're both due back within a week or two, so not sure it makes sense when we have two really promising talents there -- already scratching my head as to how you get both of them in the team. It would just stifle their developments to throw Clarke back into the mix, as much as I love him.

You’re going on like an ex partner man give it up he was absolutely brilliant for us

Can't wait for the window to close so this thread can drop off the 1st page of the board (till the inevitable resurrection in the summer ;) )

Yes, when they both fit they're already blocking each other's path. So what do they do? They go on to compete for the nurse's attention while we still need someone to play

See i don't rate mckenna

Crowbarring players into a system that don't fit it. Staying loyal to his favourites.

Playing out the back vs man city at home.

If that had been us last night he'd be lynched on here. Overrated manager who has done well but has also had huge slices of luck

Well neither of them are fit for a start.

And before Mundle's injury, he'd made 3 goal contributions in 10 games. Two of those were assists in his last game.

And Tommy Watson wasn't really all that either.

Clarke's miles ahead in terms of development, quality, and contribution.

This is the naivety I'm talking about. Every bugger does it these days. And you can almost guarantee we'd be at it if we went up as well.

It's as if teams have forgotten how to do owt else.

It drives me dad nuts at the match when we do it and we're under pressure. Trouble is, if we go route 1, the ball just comes back anyway as we haven't the the players up top to hold the ball. Ross Stewart was brilliant for giving us that outlet. We've not had it since, and Isidor is not that player.
