Morgan Whittaker

Is not as good as Roberts. 😂😂😂

Last game Whittaker scored the winning goal from a shot outside the box.

Roberts in the last few seasons including games and warm-ups hasn’t been within 20ft of the goal from a shot yet!!!!!!
As an all round player he’s not as good as Roberts.

On his goal scoring form last season, sure, he’d be a very handy addition.

The issue isn’t about whether Whittaker is good or crap, he’s clearly a decent player- but does he warrant spending £10m+ on, in our current position? He’d be providing competition for Roberts but wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter. At that price, it doesn’t make sense. If he was available for £3-4m then I’d go for it.

It's mad how a thread about whittaker turns into a lets bash Roberts thread from the usual knownowts! They are obsessed.

How do you quantify that?

What exactly is Roberts better at?

There isn't a comparison apart from them both playing in the same position, they are polar opposites of each other in playing style so together in the squad they pretty much double our options.
Roberts will probably create more, but Whittaker will score more - has a very good long range shot. RLB needs options, but I'm not sure we'd spend in excess of £5m for him.

Thought he'd been injured a bit this season as well?

The likes of him and cannon would put us in the bracket of clubs who have multiple top players in the same position in this league who look to get into and stay in the PL but who are planning for yo-yoing between the two top divisions.
Bit of a gamble spending that level of money and we'd need PL income to support it at some point otherwise we'd be selling our best players (which will happen if we don't go up anyway)

Everything other than sticking the ball in the net.
He’s better in the air?
He’s stronger on the ball?
Hes better with both feet?
He’s better at freekicks?
He’s better at corners?
He’s quicker?
He provides more assists?
He’s better at hitting the line and crossing?
He’s better at penalties?
He’s better at shooting?
He has a better end product?

Sorry but you’re having a laugh.
Whittaker is valued at three times the price of Roberts for a reason.
This when Roberts should be at his prime?
Whittaker has done it in a poor team. Roberts isn’t in a team challenging for promotion.

You watch him much?

Whittaker might be better at heading, I’ll give you that

I don’t think there’s much between the him and Roberts FWIW. Roberts is the better technical player but his numbers aren’t great. He’s also 27 so this is his peak.

Whittaker is 24 so still has some room for improvement, albeit not a lot, and he’s playing in a far worse team. I wouldn’t replacement Roberts with Whittaker, but they’d be a couple of solid options for this league.
Roberts is also adapting his game off the ball to suit how RLB wants to play and doing so brilliantly. I can’t see Whitaker being able to do that. Scores a rocket now and again, but I don’t think he’s half the footballer Roberts is.

I’d imagine he wants to go somewhere he will be playing on the front foot. It’s his big move, and I don’t think he’s the type to want the responsibility of putting the team first.
If you watch Roberts when there’s a chance of a header. You cannot say he puts the team first. He makes Alan Carr look like Duncan Ferguson. He jumps away from the challenge.
