Poveda

Him and his agent must have been pissing themselves when turning up, fat, injured, and uninterested to sign the contract.

Alarm bells were ringing watching him in the first u21’s game. Bloke looked like he was going to have a heart attack after 20 minutes.
Disgrace for a professional athlete.

One thing we've generally done well under Speakman is sign the right character of players, some might not have been good enough but most have given their all, there's not too many who can't be arsed or have stinking attitudes. Even Aouchiche who until recently has been frozen out has put shifts in for the u21's & worked hard in training to get back in favour.
Poveda though has shown no desire to get himself fit, went through the motions for the u21's earlier in the season when he played & when he came on at Watford I would have honestly hauled him back off he was that lazy. Then somehow got injured against derby after doing literally naff all.
Tell you what I know he hasn't had too many opportunities but Connolly has been utterly pathetic in his recent Substitute appearances too, we really needed him to take the pressure off & defend from the front against Stoke but he trudged about at walking pace. I get the feeling he's feeling a bit sorry for himself with the way things have gone here but trudging around looking uninterested isn't going to change RLB's mind.
I'd happily see them both go in January but lord knows who'd take them. Whereas Aouchiche has at the very least put himself in the shop window.
Connelly defend from the front he not that type of forward we need in our formation playing a 442 with someone like Wison up front yeah but playing as a lone striker no

Ok. Explain to me why we'd sign a player and not hope he'd have a positive impact then please. I can't really see the logic in signing players, paying them wages and not hoping for a positive impact on the pitch, to our bank balance or both.
Of course they’d hope all signings do well but that’s not the be all and end all of the transfer business.
Possibly to kiss an agents or clubs arse for a future deal or two? Keegan quit the mags ower similar deals.

Deals are made for all sorts of reasons:
Lining managers, directors, CEOs etc pockets used to be a very popular reason and continued long after the Norwegian tv crew collared George Graham.
Ricardo Gabbiadini and John Hughes had brothers already at SAFC who the club wanted to sign longer contracts.
Etc
