We are also playing the table toppers on Saturday. IIRC we bowled them out for about a par score at their place but we then folded like a pack of cards when it was our turn to bat. Think I managed 2 runs that day and they were flukey. Our game was conceded by the oppo so 25 points to us. Would have been nice to play and win those 25 but not complaining.
We’re in 2nd place so going for promotion and we play top of the league team next week so big game.
5 games left and I think if we win 4 we go up
We beat top of the table today. It’s the first game they’ve lost all season. We’re now only 14 behind them and 45 clear of 3rd.We are also playing the table toppers on Saturday. Hopefully we can give them a bloody nose at our place. We’ve just had an Indian lad join who is an unbelievable spin bowler. In fact we’ve got some great bowlers it’s just batting we struggle with.
We got a winning draw. Had them 9 down in the last couple of overs. We just couldn’t finish them off.We beat top of the table today. It’s the first game they’ve lost all season. We’re now only 14 behind them and 45 clear of 3rd.
No matter where it pitches or the line it is bowled on, I'd suggest you might as well try to cart the fucker over deep midwicket on the basis that there's very likely soon to be a grubber or a snorter that will sort you out anyway if you attempt to play properly.
In all seriousness, my technique was based entirely on if it's full and straight it's going straight back over the bowler, if it's full and outside off, it's going through the covers, and short outside off cut it through point.
Anywhere else, not a clue.
I managed to develop a hack over midwicket as I got older, but the legside was largely an area that never concerned me.
@I am Boss did you play today? One of the best performances from our two opening bowlers I have seen.
I missed that game but heard it was very close. Good luck for the rest of the season.Just seen this. Unfortunately I did. Not often one high scores with 5. Doesn’t excuse it but it was a very very good bowling display. Shame as the game at your place was a very good one
I'm at silksworth - we'll be joining you in Div 5 next year. Looking forward to next season already!First season back completed and I have really enjoyed it. We could have been relegated but stayed up in division 5. Seems to be the club has been in this situation the past few years. 41 years old and had not played since I was 16 or 17. Did ok, struggled a bit with injuries but main thing is the enjoyment was there. I will be back again next season![]()
Ha, I played a few games in that league helping out an old colleague of mine. Great Smeaton I played forI’ve played Langbaurgh league where you see teams with a right mix of age and abilities and that’s what helps make the league great. In fact my old side last season had a bloke in his 70s who’s played all his life, 12 year old kids, their parents who were there as lifts but play when needed too and an opening bowler being an ex NYSD Prem opening bowler in his 30s.
A long as it's plain and in club colours then being an old style traditionalist it's okay and fits in . My pet hate in the past was young uns wearing American Football caps and putting them on peak backwards , I think the England blue ones would also blend in well,Silly question is it acceptable to wear a bucket hat whilst fielding? Would prefer to wear one of them instead of a baseball cap next season.

Should be actively encouraged IMO.Silly question is it acceptable to wear a bucket hat whilst fielding? Would prefer to wear one of them instead of a baseball cap next season.
We only play in white and so do our opponents (Warwickshire leagues).Should be actively encouraged IMO.
New club doesn't play in white, all clubs have their own colours. Is that a thing in the North East too now?
Depends. Majority still play in all white, but the NEPL teams have different (club-coloured) kit for 45-overs games and T20s.Should be actively encouraged IMO.
