Jack Clarke

I am pretty sure that one person who does not feel sorry for Clarke is Clarke himself.

Fans are attached emotionally to clubs in a way that players are not. Look at Defoe for instance. Idolised by a 40,000 crowd but up and off to play intermittently in front of 10,000 at Bournemouth.

Clarke will not regret leaving us for even a minute.
Disagree with you there. He’ll like his new wage, he’ll have one eye on what will happen next year. Players generally want to play football. It’s the reason we turn up to play 5aside, or on a Sunday morning at the park. Jack Clarke will be looking now thinking he could very well be back at the only club where he’s ever shone, potentially winning promotion & being in a better position in a year’s time. He wouldn’t have thought like that in September, he might not think like that in May, but right now I bet he’d rather be the main man in the championship banging goals in rather than getting 10-20mins in a match on a Saturday his team are already getting beat in.

I wouldn't have him back tbh.
Watson and Mundle are better players.
Clarke is a one-trick pony who cannot make the step up to the Premier.
Mundle might make the step-up, Watson definitely will.
As a player in isolation, Clarke would be an improvement. Add in the financial costs, part of the reason we sold him was to show others there’s a pathway to career progression, it’s a no go from the start.

That’s an incredibly bold statement at this stage. One has a lot of potential and the other had a very good start to the campaign but his form dipped. He’s yet to have a good campaign from start to finish in his career.

he comes on every game without fail on about 70/75 mins. And every game without fail he struggles to beat his fullback. He won’t get a move to a premier league club off the back of 15 minute ineffective cameos. He’ll have to hope he tears it up again in the champo next season
He’s not even playing as a winger where it’s actually his position they are playing him narrow as fuck like a forward

We loved what Clarke did when he was here, as good as he looks Watson still has to prove himself and Mundle made a step down when he came to us from Spurs. Hopefully all will work out well.

Clarke was brilliant for us and I’d him back if it were an option. However, it won’t be, so we’ll stick with Mundle and Watson, who have done very well so far this season.

It’s still not sank in with a lot of people how the model works

I honestly think that even if he was offered back on loan (which would never happen) & finances were right, we’d say no. It goes against what Sunderland are about & the way we do things now is part of signing the next Clarke, Cirkin, Ballard, Mundle. These players want to know if they don’t make it into the top league with us, they will get a chance when they’ve proved themselves.

We also need players for arguably 5/6 other positions before we ever considered another left winger.

If that’s the case it’s ideological madness. I’m not sure it is the case given the signings of Mepham, Samed and Connolly. If the deal is right to sign players who they believe would improve the first team squad, then they would sign them I’m sure

This

Financially he's out of our league now
Choices have been made and we have to live with them

Clarke might not come away from this episode the player he was when it began.

He'll be back in the championship next year .. getting another pl move won't be easy next time as he's just an understudy these days...history has repeated for him ...albeit with way more cash
Ipswich fan posted in their forum that he was been a very expensive mistake and will never be a prem player.
Stated he may be ok next year if they go down.
We need to forget about jack Clarke and his one good season.
Confidence player thar needed to be rebuilt and coached by us into the player he became .. this move to Ipswich might be a damaging one to a lad like him

They will love hime next season when they get to see the real Jack Clarke.
He'll be a regular starter for them, and they will see what they are missing this season.

Like you said, he has rebuilt after a bad move once, and I hope he has enough self confidence to do it again.

If their tactical genius of a manager actually started playing the lad as a winger and got his left back to actually try and defend sometimes, it might just help
