*~*~* Blackburn v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Agree a decent point but not the “no improvement” point

In Jobe and a more experienced Dan Neil we have a midfield to compete with anyone in this league. We have a strong first choice defence now with able deputies to come in if hit by injuries

Patto has continued to develop into one of, if not, the best keepers in the league and we have recruited a Champo level deputy

When our wide players are fit we have as good as anyone in the league now - including yet another outstanding prospect in young Tommy

We have Chris Rigg in the team and there is not another team in the league for whom he would not be one of the first names on the teamsheet

Up front in Isidor, Connolly and Mayenda we have forwards who have shown they can score at this level

Obviously ideally we should recruit a regular experienced goalscorer in January but they cost a fortune and there are no guarantees as those of us who remember the signing of Tore Andre Flo know

Disappointing to concede a late equaliser but a point away at a promotion rival who were one of the top in form teams recently is a very good result

Think we need some perspective on a disappointing result only because the equaliser came so late
good balanced view

But it’s ok for fans on here to give Dan Neil & Patrick Roberts the same treatment
None of it is OK … fancy getting your owrformance
That's a situation most forwards dream of. He blew it. He doesn't deserve a place in a man's team, yet.
plenty of experienced strikers have blown chances like that … too harsh on a young lad with potential and talent

It’s ok to blow a chance like that every now & again if you normally put other chances away, the lad has an uncanny knack for shooting straight at the keeper though.

Don't imagine RLB spends much time on here. One of the reasons he's doing so well is thar he seems fairly removed from all the noise.

Opposite to our previous manager beale
True. He’d have been reading about how he should be peddled in recent match threads. Incredibly
Some real knackers on here tonight … we have a young squad who took a point away from an in form top team … if we’d been the ones to equalise in the 90th and save the match said knackers would now be having a party … dearie me … I wish there was a board for the players to post comments about the knackers …
Now that’s a forum I’d read!

I agree, he should have got a shot away. Some of the posts and comments have been way over the top though given the job he has done for the team playing out of position in recent weeks.
Can’t explain away that woeful attempt by talking about him playing out of position. The chance was through the middle.

He needs to develop but not at the expense of the team. Two non-scoring wingers = no promotion.

We've got to stop this habit of only starting to play once we've gone behind.

These "good points" are costing us any chance of going up automatically.

We've had far too many draws recently and would've been better off losing half and winning half.
Drawing away to 5th place Blackburn won't be what costs Sunderland promotion.

I don’t actually think it was us playing bad in the first half. You’ve got to give credit to Blackburn, they are a good team, they knew exactly how to play against us & nullified us. It was more because of them playing well than us being poor.
