Jack Clarke

I doubt he expected to be the main man. There's new signings at pretty much every club getting used to how they fit into their new clubs formations/tactics.

This shite about it being a failed move is just made up bollocks.
It’s faintly ridiculous the way some posters are analysing his career in minute detail 🤣

Just seen the highlights of their game against the mags

That manager of theirs has been truly found out. Said on numerous occasions last season in the championship they were the luckiest team I'd ever seen. Hasn't got a bloody clue how to play Clarke, why did they even buy him?

That 3rd goal man

Their goalkeeper is so bad they'd be better off releasing him on a free

I'm enjoying their struggle to be honest, fuck em.

You can tell he thinks highly of himself and has the arrogance to think his brand of football with good Championship players is going to work in the Premier League, regardless of opposition and he won’t change it.
Martin got the sack for doing exactly the same.

I still don’t understand why they signed him considering the fact they don’t play him as a winger and have him narrow every time I see them, even when/if they get relegated they’ll still not be playing him where he is most effective.

Yeah, exactly this. They play him in Szmodics position when he plays which leaves him in a more congested part of the pitch and they play throughout the middle with ball so he rarely gets to take on a full back one on one.

It completely negates his biggest skill, coming inside to shoot, because he's already inside and the shot is blocked because so is the defender marking him

This philosophy in fairness got Vincent KOMPANY the Bayern Munich job which I’m still baffled about.

Hes played less than 400 minutes this season ... that cannot be good for him physically or mentally

By this time last year he had play almost all games and had scored regularly

Financially a fantastic move for him, I mean he makes the average uk salary in a week but professionally it’s a big hit for a young lad to not be played regularly. He’s not being used properly. SAFC was his home and everyone backed him. To go from 40k fans chanting Clarke will tear you apart to missing regular starts will be a knock to him mentally

Ipswich saving him for next season in the Championship

I'm not sure it's a great move for Clarke. Its a good for SAFC, with 2 young replacements already in the wings and money in the bank for Clarke. Short-term, its financially rewarding for Clarke and well, but is it really a good career move to be sat on the bench at PL relegation-fodder?

Ian Harte really has fucked this lads development by pushing for moves away, he hardly playing these days, I can see him going out on loan inn January more than likely.
give your head a shake you dunce
doubled his wage for next 4 years and in essence guaranteed the lad's and his kids never have to work again
would you not be happy with that for you or your kids ???
another jumpers for goalposts utter piffle
it just shows maybe Speakman was spot on. we bought him for nowt, made a big wedge on him and fact is he is a good pub league player but not good enough for premier, ie most of us firestick armchair fans dont have and never did have one clue about player assessment or value

Agree with most of your post but sure we paid a fee for him and spurs got a cut of his fee . We still made a profit on him and like Stewart it was a good deal for us and Clarke financially.

If he’d signed a 5 year contract with us he’d of been set for life, ok on maybe half the money but he’d of been happy and enjoying his football , there’s more to life than money

He would have guaranteed that staying at Sunderland and signing the new contract that was on the table.

If he'd stayed here this season, he'd have got a far, far better move in January or in the summer if he'd wanted it – but I think if he'd stayed with us he'd have been in the Premier league next season as with Clarke in our team now we'd be favourites to go up.

He's easily good enough to play in the Premier league IMO, but needs to play in a team that will set up to get the best out of him.

We did that and reaped the rewards – his agent pushed him into what was clearly the wrong move at least a season too early, and he'll end up setting his career back two or three years as next season he'll have to re-prove himself in the championship in a team that's not set up to get the best out of him in order to get back into the premier league
