Becoming a dad

Stock up on caffeine and cake for the first few weeks. Lie ins will become a thing of the past. After a few months you'll wonder what you did before the bairn arrived. Hope you like talking to your Mrs about shite, it'll soon become the norm.

That a very good point.. kids develop at their own rate.. Boys or girls . Other parents and their kids have no impact in your own household, just make sure your a happy family and pack that West Ham shirt under the tree..!! 😆 :lol:;)

Yeah, It's a difficult balance. They need routine & discipline, but also need freedom to express themselves.
Ideally, I'd have preferred a bit more tough love, but ours is a spoilt a bit too much for my liking.
 
1. Babies don’t prevent you from going out!! Go to the pub, go to restaurants. Staff love to see babies
2. ⁠get used to speaking to strangers. Especially old women. They love bairns
3. ⁠each baby is different. Don’t compare yours to others
4. ⁠nappies aren’t that bad til they start scranning real food. Though first couple are like and adults Guinness poo
5. ⁠We don’t let naptime dictate our life. Other parents do and that’s fine for them but he tends to just sleep in pram.
6. ⁠Get loads of sugary snacks to keep you going through night over first couple of weeks. my boy cluster-fed for like 3 weeks whereby he wanted feeding every hour overnight
7. ⁠we put him in his room asap when he hit 6 month. He slept better in there better than he did in our room as he can’t hear us snoring there

What I mean is that when he was first born, I was nervous about how waiters etc would be when we took our baby to a restaurant. vast majority of the time everyone is very accommodating and often you will end up with extra attention to the table if there’s someone working that likes kids etc.
 
I agree about those wankers as you called them, but Some have no choice in the situation and are beaten by the system.. are those wankers too..?

Whilst I agree the system is weighted in terms of mothers and custody battles should start at 50/50 the vast majority are the wankers you initially called them.

I’ve several friends who are split with their former partners and share custody brilliantly.

Not as many as you think are ‘gamed by the system’

Please, I was not the first to call the fathers "wankers", I simple quoted from another poster.

I have also agreed that many fathers have gone missing and neglected their roles as a parent.

But, I will Stand for the Dads that have been denied access to their children due to the pure poisioness which allows the mothers and system to continue this process.

I have, Unfortunately lost a couple (2) male friends through suicide due to not seeing their children.

The 'gamed by the system' in my view is that, its a game between the mother and her kids.

I make no apology for airing my views about this subject.

Got a 5 and a 2 year old, having one seems like a peice of piss in hindsight!

Get anything done now around the house that needs doing.

Buy a new car seat but get everything else used from marketplace or a charity shop. We saved about £800 on a pram that was pretty much new.

First few months are tough so you might not get out much socially but it settles down and you start to get into a routine.

Get the grandparents to babysit for a few hours regularly so you and the Mrs can get out for a coffee etc and have that downtime together

Given that @yamar1 specifically said those that choose to runaway, it seems like you’re just angling for another argument.

If he’d said “dad’s who aren’t present after trying to gain custody but lost in court are wankers” then that would be different…
