Car Crash 16.4…

Il be honest, I enjoy the 100. Working from home it’s ideal, my knowledge of the woman’s game is really strong now and I’ve enjoyed most of the games I’ve watched

However- at what point to do we go? This is going to bankrupt English cricket? They seem to still be pushing really hard. Abit worrying really!

Thing is, they could have done the bits you like to the Blast, they didn't need to create a new competition in a format nobody else in the world plays to save half an hour.

but they wanted a comp that lasts a month that they can televise all the games, doesnt work with 18 teams
"They" being ECB spreading propaganda. Not aware that Sky have ever confirmed that,as fact. Hitherto they were perfectly happy to broadcast T20 as part of a lucrative package. All gone quiet on bids from franchise for the Hundred, both attendances and tv viewing figures are falling yet ECB are proposing to substantially increase players contracts. Persistence with this folly will lead to bankruptcy.

100% mate I’ve always said that, cricket is cricket to me, I’d watch anything that was on during that time tbh, only real reason I watch the hundred is because it’s on during work 😂

I try to do meetings/calls earlier in the day and admin on the afternoon during august 😂

no the tv companies, theres a reason all the other t20 leagues only have 8 to 10 teams

A lot of complaining around the ‘disproportionate’ salary increases for this. They’ve increased the top bracket by a fuck load, 2nd bracket by some, all other brackets by next to nothing. It’s clear as day they know they got nowhere near to attracting the big overseas names they promised at the start and are now trying to bring them and even just keep hold of local players, much to the detriment of home grown county players.

It's scary how much straw-clutching the ECB are doing to try to convince people that this is cricket of the future.

This dead horse had been flogged so much, there is no meat left on the bones.

Said it before but I think we must be the only country that’s introduced a franchise league and see the sport drop in popularity.

imagine being on a about 70K a year maybe and only able to earn that much for a very limited time, then imagine someone said want to earn that for a months graft, i know what id be doing

To be honest, I don’t recall it as being quite as black-and-white as that. By the later 2010s Sky’s Blast coverage was patchy at best. They’d do the quarters and the odd group game, but they certainly didn’t have a live match every time there was a match to be screened. I’d largely blame the ECB for that as well and the way they downgraded the tournament by chopping and changing its schedule. But whatever the underlying reason, Sky were hardly acting like they were happy to broadcast it. Of course, they broadcast even less of it now given how much further it’s been devalued but the process was already underway. I’m not sure there’s any way back for the Blast now. The last couple of years have felt like a pale shadow.

I must admit that I thought T20 coverage was more extensive than you claim, and certainly more than " patchy". After all Sky have a dedicated cricket channel; what else could they cover if there wasn't a test match taking place?

Well, memory is a dangerous thing. I have a recollection of being frustrated on occasion back then when there wasn’t a game on on a night when there were several to choose from. How frequently it was, I wouldn’t like to say. And they certainly showed a lot more than they do now, which is understandable.

It did feel that the blast had already peaked a bit by the second half of the last decade though, certainly didn’t seem to have quite the buzz at our place. But as I say, I fully blame the ECB for that anyway with their ridiculous tinkering with scheduling.
Yeah, there is and it’s nothing to do with TV
Really, nothing? So what would your explanation be? Why there aren’t 40 odd teams in the IPL and six in the big bash?

I mean, it doesn’t mean we have to do what others do, we aren’t others. We can try to make a success of something different. But there does have to be a reason for what others do that we can’t be in complete denial about.

I see Gould was interviewed yesterday saying there has been over 100 bids from 35 parties for The Hundred.

And he has confirmed most investors have put in multiple bids

And he is confident it will raise enough to future proof the county game for the next 20/25 years.

Yes,but it's only a few weeks ago that they were extending the deadline for bids because what had been forthcoming were below the hoped for valuation. We'll see but I really fear for the future of the game in the format I love.

Guess we will see, It will happen, and was always going too.

Fighting it is futile

Its about working together for the best outcome to suit all parties as best as possible
