*~*~* Sunderland v Stoke match thread *~*~*

Obviously I can’t tell you how utterly elated I am with the result. As you would expect it’s off the charts. My elation is truly stratospheric of course. I thought we were never going to win a game for the remainder of the season such was our difficulty in scoring and subsequently winning the game. But the team really kicked it up not just one level, not just two but many, many more. They found a whole new gear yesterday for me. A new level of class. They showed me that they can fight for a win and get it. I say a massive well done and congratulations to the team. I hope we can now really push on and find more wins.

Listening to a reaction pod and apparently had we not won yesterday it would mean we were definitely not promotion contenders any more

So reading this

The bit about bad away fan behaviour and dodgy chants.
I've no idea what this is about. Anyone?

Don't be silly, like everyone criticizing on here they care.. maybe a bit too much for their own good but that's not for me to judge.
Best thing i have read on here for an age and criticism is a desire to get things right.... Thin skinned is a species of ignorance and tolerate the bad, things wont improve and keane was always on the money that sunderland needed to think like man u to start been successful.... All our failures after keane stemmed from a desire to think small and today the model has done well to stick to its guns, but its also very vulnerable to self satisifaction and last season wad a reflection of that failing.

I'll be honest constant whining and moaning doesn't help either. But constructive criticism should be welcomed, it's how you try to improve

I think you can differentiate the criticism into two school and one you could call the kneejerkers and a bad result will draw out the emotion and a second who dont trust the model and club to deliver and generally theyre happy when were winning, but the doubt remains.... A Henderson like signing is the sort of left field appt that undermines the second group and goes against the model and you unify the club by not behaving stubbornly and last seasons failure was down to stubborness and the toon blackcats affair was a redline.... Promotion is what we all want and the playoffs is probably the only vehicle with the model and top 2 does require more.

Gritty ballsy performance from the lads, plenty of ambition and some good individual performances.

Big result after a few draws, great to see and we totally deserved to win. It could have easily been more than 2 for us.

Good win in difficult conditions and although we need to be more clinical in front of goal I was just pleased to get the 3 points.

We were the better side throughout but just couldn't get that second goal until close to the end. Well deserved and hopefully will give the team a boost of confidence. Must admit would have been disappointed if we hadn't won

Onwards and upwards, nothing to fear in the league as far as I'm concerned, let's hope for another win on Tuesday evening.
