Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Not quite strong enough yet, but when he isn't bullied he's very promising and without Mundle he has to start.

Sometimes fans just boil my piss. Its been obvious to anyone for ages that Watson has tremendous potential yet on the evidence of one start, his debut, playing on his wrong side people were giving the absolute and categoric point of view that he was either a) not good enough or b) not ready. What goes on in peoples minds? How can such certaintly of opinion be expressed based on such a tiny sample of games. Is it not possible to actually sit back and enjoy the fact that we have yet another youngun deemed good enough to represent our team and actually see how he developes before writing him off? I hope his performance yesterday made some fans reflect on how utterly stupid they are.
To be fair, it’s possible to be someone who is absolutely buzzing to see we’ve got another youngun deemed good enough to represent our team, but also think he’s not ready based on what we’d seen so far (up to Friday night). I know, because I am one. He’s looked miles off being ready, in his starts so far but the ability is there and the potential is great, that much is clear to see.

I think sometimes it’s obvious a player has class even when very young. The players I recall thinking that of are Bridges, Henderson and Rigg. Watson has that but will need to improve the physical side of his game. Plenty of time for that. If we could have him and Roberts coming on as subs to run at people replacing Mundle and a new RWwe’d be in a great place on the wings.

Too stupid to reflect 😁

I don't think,it's physical mate, it more a case of getting to know how to use his body/shield the ball certain ways etc.

This. He hasn't mastered the anticipation of a shove in the back, holding or somebody getting a leg across him. He's getting caught off balance and then loses control or goes down.

If he's able to add some weight, that would probably help, but should also be able to improve by working on his body position and anticipation.

There are plenty of lean players who are able to cope with physicality through tenacity and coached (or natural) body positioning.

He doesn't seem too keen to track back, a little apathetic in his chasing down after losing the ball I thought, would like to see more aggression from him.
I know he's young but he did look like a little boy caught in the headlights at times.

I think Roberts would be even more frustrating coming on as a sub tbh, he'd be trying worldies from everywhere

It’ll come with experience. Mundle is good at it, Jobe is excellent. Using their body to get between oppo and the ball while dribbling

Bang on mate. It will come with the more games he plays. I think he's going to be an absolute star. Keep Mundle well and truly on his toes. Great options for Le Bris.

Yeah. At the minute he has that "I can't believe he just did that to me" look, when he gets out muscled, but he doesn't appear to be intimidated, more about being naive.
