1st TEST :: New Zealand v England

I thought we'd have had an early breakthrough.

As long as this pair don't take the lead past 100 we should be okay.

But do Stokes and Carse need to be trying to smack every ball for 4, feels like an easy 100 is on for Ben and we could have pushed for a 200 run lead instead of the 110-150 it may end up.

Had no issue with Brook and Stokes teeing off at the start (aside from Ben going after the 1st ball with the new ball) as they wanted quick runs before the new ball and then wanted to try and hit the bowlers of f their lengths in case it swung. Conditions look good for bowling again.
Do think they could have settled down and ground the kiwis once the ball got soft instead of continuing to attack but again fantastic entertainment

I get where you're coming from but at what point do we just accept that this is how we play? We are an aggressive team, the players have bought into it, the stats show we are a better team since this. We aren't going to get to 200/2 of 40 overs then think, 'right we are on top, lets play sensible cricket'. That's not what this is, it's just keep pushing cricket, don't let teams settle. Player stats don't appear to mean much, thing is it's working.
We've had some defeats but we have won way more, we might look back and think this was a shit time for English cricket but it's way more exciting than most test cricket I've seen.
 
The good thing is that while not as technically good as those that have gone before them, in Atkinson and Carse we have two bowlers who really don't need help from the conditions to be a threat and take wickets.
Which is crucial for when we tour places like Aus and South Africa
