1st TEST :: New Zealand v England

Stokes, Gus and Carse are more than capable of getting the lead up above 200.

Just whether they are prepared to not just give it away.
Stokes is looking a bit antsy, trying to hit every ball for a boundary when he doesn't really need to. I know we're 8 down but Carse is capable of staying in with him and there's loads of time left in the game.

Dare I say anything negative when we've just score 140 runs at over 6 for the loss of 3 wickets (1 batter and 2 bowling all rounders).
Tremendous entertainment, full stop.
But do Stokes and Carse need to be trying to smack every ball for 4, feels like an easy 100 is on for Ben and we could have pushed for a 200 run lead instead of the 110-150 it may end up.

Had no issue with Brook and Stokes teeing off at the start (aside from Ben going after the 1st ball with the new ball) as they wanted quick runs before the new ball and then wanted to try and hit the bowlers of f their lengths in case it swung. Conditions look good for bowling again.
Do think they could have settled down and ground the kiwis once the ball got soft instead of continuing to attack but again fantastic entertainment

Carse is a player transformed from his Durham form? Is this down to Anderson's coaching?
Not sure mate tbh, but there seems a pattern with this regime that players can play with freedom and confidence.

It’s a good place to be imo at any top level sport or walk of life for that matter, going out to do your job without feeling too much pressure, it allows you to flourish imo rather than been scared.

Carse has been exceptional in an England shirt.

Looking like a comfortable England win barring an absolute disaster. I wasn’t expecting that tbh.

Don’t want to sound as if I’m not giving the lads credit but it feels like New Zealand have beaten themselves more than anything. I’m not sure I’ve seen a team put down more catches than that in a Test.

Aye it’s been a strange performance from them. First gifting Bashir four wickets on day 1 with the pitch doing nothing for the spinners then all the dropped catches in our innings.

The next two tests should be competitive if they can sort their act out.
