Take it slow marra. If you spend alot of time together at the party and things go well then ask her out for a meal and/or drinks. Also reel in the piss taking if you do get a date.

Totally agree, i felt a bit guilty when I took the piss the last time I saw her, in my defence i have been such a wet blanket that i feel i can't win the last 20 years :lol:. im getting there though. it's hard though because you dont want to be dickhead but you dont want to be a pushover!

If she's taking the piss back then it's probably a bit flirty mate but if you're together one on one she will want to get to know you in a more serious way. Ask her about herself but without being too full on and answer any questions she asks you as honestly as you can.

We are all clueless and awkward really mate but there is somebody out there for everyone. Just got to fins a click somewhere.

Just play it straight, your final comment isn't always correct. It's about meeting her so she can find the real you, even if you tell her the p*ss taking was your way of hiding a lack of confidence.

I do take the piss out of mates and that, just overthinking really ;). it goes back to my lack of experience and constantly being turned down as you're bound to question yourself, it's human nature..

plus my dad being passed away a month ago has added to all this haha

I knew from p*sstakers at work it was largely down to their lack of confidence, in which case people question themselves - it is human nature, then if someone feels vulnerable following a loss it all adds up. Humans overthink everything that's important to them so you aren't alone in that. The female is possibly going through the same thoughts.

I get you like but there are some mates that we do take the piss out of from an affectionate place though ;)
 
Few years ago I started planning all my Xmas shopping so that I buy the bulk on Black Friday to avoid the anxiety and stress of Xmas + 2 birthdays in the week leading up to it.

Now I just had all that stress now. I absolutely hate every part of it, shopping - and the looking around to see what to buy, where to get the best prices etc - absolutely kills me. I know the kids love it, but I wish Xmas would just go away.

I have agreed with the missus and my folks to not buy anything for eachother anymore - its all for the kids. But I still have to buy Xmas and birthday presents from them to give, which is basically the exact same thing.

Feel like just getting on a plane for a month until its all over.

As much as I love Christmas I could nicely do with binning it for the hassle & planning involved.

Hi all, I'm Steve from the Foundation of Light and lead on the Foundation's mental health project, Game of II Halves. My colleague @D.A suggested this forum might be valuable in getting the message out. This project is about men helping men with an early intervention (a simple conversation) and then signposting where required. As we all know, sometimes a conversation is all that is needed, more often it is the start of a recovery. Not just looking for men if females have reach into male communities. I'm looking for individuals who are friendly, approachable, non-judgemental and care about people's mental health to become ambassadors for the Foundation. What's involved? A session of Samaritans' training at the Beacon of Light to help sharpen conversation skills and then involvement in monthly workshops to grow in confidence. Aim is to have 300 ambassadors in a network around Sunderland and nearby boroughs. Find out more at

I had 90% of my shopping arranged by Sept, now it's just the wrapping up, cards delivery sorting & whatever else last minute the Mrs wants....oh aye and the Xmas din turkey etc to get, avoid a night out or two. What I do gets earlier every year. There'll be something I've forgotten. Dain't kna when the tree will be coming out and going up so I'd best get me bah humbug face sorted 🎅

Well I've put the tree up and wish I hadn't my eldest daughter hasn't spoken to me in 4 years still don't know why and in the summer I got a message never to try and contact her again. My youngest came back from Uni in the summer at first we were speaking but she's not now, she's back living with the ex so the brainwashing will have been intense so not feeling too Christmassy. I did have a night in Hartlepool with a team from the Cornerstone homeless charity checking if anyone was sleeping rough - we did find someone and got them into emergency accommodation but it was quite sobering.

I hope your daughters come round, keep trying to reach out, even if it is just a wee Christmas card to them.
