Boro thread


There were plenty slating Tommy Conway when he signed for Boro.

Currently scored more than any Sunderland player and hasn't played the full amount of games.

Still think he's crap??

Was just reading the other day that he cost more than Cirkin, Hume, O’Nien, Neil, Rigg, Jobe, Roberts & Mundle combined.

He is a very good player, better than I realised. He would have scored more too but for Latte Lath.

He cost a decent amount, given we have spent much on one player in recent times - £4m, but we have turned a healthy profit on Spence, Akpom, Tavernier, Rogers in the last couple of years.

The Sheff Utd game was a big turning point for us. I think I actually mentioned on here at the time that I felt it would be.

Azaz and Lath hadn't scored or provided an assist from open play before that game. A lot of Boro fans called for them to be taken out of the team but to Carrick's credit he persisted with them and Azaz set up Lath for the winning goal that night. Since then they haven't looked back really and Azaz, Conway and Lath are now in the top 10 goalscorers list. Azaz also has 7 assists to his name.

I think confidence has been key to our turnaround. Right from the beginning of the season we've dominated games and created chances but we just weren't putting our chances away.

Ben Doak is now a key player in the side. He didn't start in our game at the SOL and at that point Carrick was getting it wrong. He was trying to shoehorn Conway and Lath into the side by playing Conway as a 10 and it meant Azaz was stuck out on the left. The current team is perfectly balanced.

Burnley and Leeds back to back in a weeks time, be interesting to see if your form continues through that.

you look like you'll score plenty but you'll always give the opposition a chance, even Oxford who were absolutely dreadful at the SOL scored two and your keeper made a couple of of good saves from the highlights I saw. Don't think that will be good enough against teams who are set up right tactically, like when we beat you comfortably earlier in the season.
