1st TEST :: New Zealand v England

Look at his recent run of scores does not know where his off stump is. The brain fade dismissals in Pakistan and if the ultimate plan is to regain the ashes he averages 15 v Australia and 34 is a career average not good enough!

He needs to be more consistent but you’re being unfair on him, he hadn’t failed he’s scored many 100s at 3 and has a decent average there

I just don’t rate him mate I think when the pressure is on he gets worse. He looked a better player when he first started.

Never seen a test player look so bad when they first start an innings.

He’s not the perfect option but he scores 100s there, it’s easy just to pick a name and say they should bat there but I can’t see anyone obvious

Score summary, day one of two

New Zealand Prime Minister's XI - 136 all out in 36.4 overs: Brydon Carse (4-48), Gus Atkinson (3-15), Chris Woakes (3-25)

England - 249 all out in 45.1 overs: Zak Crawley (94 off 90 balls), Ollie Pope (42 off 44), Harry Brook (27 off 25), Chris Woakes (20no off 39)

Copy and Paste job. It’s the future

Struck a blow on the right hand apparently.

Could be your lad Robinson's route into the side.

Personally I've always liked the look of Rew, but he's too classical a batter for this England set up IMO
Cox confirmed out with a broken thumb.

Foakes for me. Very unlucky to be dropped but Smith has been superb.

Nick Hoult from the telegraph expects Robinson, but not in time for the 1st test. Cynical part of me thinks they’re probably hoping Pope goes well and they don’t need him.

I do wonder though if they do a slight rejig of the order to bring Pope further down.

Giving Pope the gloves is a baaaad idea. He's not a poor keeper but some way short of the standards set by Foakes, Smith and even Buttler (but still better than YJB, as he proved in the Ashes), but he's more than enough going on ATM without adding to it

Pure arrogance and stupidity not to bring a backup WK on tour. Ludicrous

Incorrect
Having Pope keep in tests is absurd.

He kept brilliant in Pakistan and we won both tests
