Really minor annoyances

Those signs on roads that say ‘average speed cameras in operation’ that always make me think ‘well why don’t they use the good ones.’

The minor annoyance is that I can’t find an appropriate thread upon which to post such inane ponderings.
Yeah was drivin up country recently when I saw a sigh that read "Free Range Eggs" Anybody ever tried those Range Eggs...can't be all that great if they givin them away fer nowt ?

Signs or posters for events that have long since passed, but are still attached to fences, lampposts etc.
Had one here recently on every bus stop, werbesäule and notice board. Was a local nightclubs big annual party thing in the March of 2020 - corona lockdown came obviously stopping it taking place. Their posters were everywhere until the first post-corona version of the same event in March this year. Was a really weird dystopian reminder of those times.

Similar to that, grief debris.

I completely understand that someone wants to remember a loved one by taping a bunch of flowers to a bench or some other feature the deceased loved. But after two weeks, you have some manky plastic full of brown sludge. I don't want to be remembered like that when I'm gone. Come back and clean it up.

Someone made a roadside shrine near me, and I get the impression it might have been someone young died on the road. They made a white cross and put a lot of things around it. If it helps them then great, but now it has all decayed, it looks like someone has been fly tipping.

Totally agree with that. There's one just opposite child 1s school. It's been there for 2y and they put up battery powered lights which are long dead. It's now just decaying strings of lights.

There's one near me I sometimes walk past like that. Long since faded and dirty bits and bobs

Even has the police appeal for witnesses notices up from 2006 alongside the fella's photo with the ornaments the family must have up.

Looks really sad. Almost like everyone moved on and the shrine is just left (not saying they have but is how it looks)

Just go at it with a pressure washer. Take 2 mins and it'll be gone. You'll become a minor celebrity on Facebook

I can’t get my head around this.

I know I’m not alone. And I typed an explanation of why I can’t get my head around it.

But then I deleted it because I knew that some people would still not understand why I couldn’t understand.

The person who I should have been meeting this afternoon to build a large front of store display didn't turn up. She sent a message to the lady I was working for to say she was scared about driving in the snow and ice and didn't want to risk it. The lady rang me to check I was ok and was surprised when I said I've been driving around all day on dry roads as there was no snow and ice.

Managed to do the job by myself and I'm getting her fee as well as mine.

Colleague I sit next to still says "confused.com" multiple times a day
I think legally it is fine to slap anyone who says that.

Two responses that seem to have worked for me when I felt I could not ignore them saying it was one who was being very annoying anyway, "Sorry I don't speak twat". The other is to play utter confusion. "You are what?", "I don't understand. This is something to do with car insurance?". Just keep the bewilderment going until they sheepishly say "I just put .com on the end to be funny", while they realise they are not.

Not wishing to contribute to the ever more frequent whingeing, moaning threads on the SMB but due to the high traffic of this thread this might be a good place to ask for help and it is related to a minor annoyance.

I think my first iPhone was a 3, then I had a 5 or 6 and have now had a 13 the last couple of years. I type on it in landscape with my thumbs. One of the previous versions they had widened the keyboard tiles which was great for my clumsy thumbs but the current version has smaller tiles and a load of wasted area to the sides of the keyboard which they could have used to widen the tiles. That’s a minor annoyance but a more major minor annoyance is when they did away with the < and > buttons to allow you to advance your cursor when typing. Why?

I complained about this a long time ago in an apple shop and the bewer told me if you hold the space bar you can then move your cursor around. A half decent solution to a problem that didn’t exist when they had < and > tiles. But it gets worse…

Is it just me who finds that if you want to use the space bar to move your cursor and it lands on a typed word, the word will highlight as if there’s an error. No amount of tapping or double-tapping can convince the phone that this word is fine, spelled correctly, etc I may have just wanted to add a word in the preceeeing space. You tap, double tap (fuck me it just did it there on the word ‘tap’) until you have to admit defeat, allow the phone to remove the word completely and then have to type it all over again even though there was nowt wrong with it in the first place.

So that’s my annoyance. I’d like to know …
Is it just me?
Is there a way to tell the phone to fuck off and leave words alone that are error free and that I don’t want to change?

This never happened on my older phones (or older software versions)

(And don’t get me started on predictive spelling FFS!)

Sounds like you should get a Samsung if Iphones are that annoying.
