Chris Rigg

And Rigg is younger with bigger clubs after him.

It'll be hard for any of our lads to turn their noses up at the prospect of playing at the top level. It'll also be hard for the club to turn down the kind of money that will be offered.
Agree with everything apart from the last sentence, think the club wll just be trying to maximise whatever deal they can, won't be difficult for them in principal, though.

It will be difficult if we're still in this league. You can starve off aspirations of players playing for bigger clubs if we are to go up, but if they've showcased their abilities in this league and the big clubs come calling then it becomes hard to keep the player happy.

The kind of money offered for the likes of Rigg or Jobe if we're still in the championship will see the club sell (in my opinion).

There's going to be some big negotiations this coming summer with the likes of Cirkin and one or two others who've been at the club a while. They may look for a better deal elsewhere if they can't get it here.

Fingers crossed we can gain promotion, and at least ease some of the problems that another season in the championship would likely cause.
I think they're trying to get to that level with Sunderland AFC, unless I'm mistaken.
Just to counter your ideas that you think you know how our young players think / or that they all want to leave at the first opportunity.

I don't claim to know what they think, but having watched players come and go in football over the years. Players rarely get emotionally involved in clubs anymore. Yes, they may love playing here, but when the bigger clubs come calling, it's just a natural progression for any professional to want to play at the top level. Not all players get the opportunity.

I'm sure the lads would love to gain promotion with the club, that would be the perfect outcome for the players and us fans, but let's be realistic for a minute. If the clubs linked come in for the likes of Rigg in the summer and we are still in The Championship, it wouldn't really be a surprise to see him go. He'd further his career, and the club would get big money.

The Danny Drinkwater experience?

I would rather play a bit football and actually enjoy participating in the sport I love.

Drinkwater f#cked his own career up tbh, but he still didn't have a bad one.

He was a kid at Man U, then went on to play an instrumental part of one of the biggest shocks in football, owning a medal that a shit load more talented players than him will never have. He got a golden opportunity at Chelsea and flushed it down the toilet.

It does for some, especially agents and on here where some people can't equate to the stupid money footballers earn.

Players need to chose the right club for them at the stage they are in their career. Not who is offering the most money. They'll all end up rich, a few K either way isn't better than being happy.
True, but a lot agents will always go for the big money regardless of the happiness of the player, when in fact they should be looking after them.

If a team from the top half of the Prem come in for him in the summer I would imagine he'd at least quadruple his wages. At a guess from £10-15k per week to £60k per week. Thats roughly £2.5m per year. Spread over 2 years - £5m and thats without being offered a new deal if he does well in 1st year. Thats hard to turn down and definitely not a few k either way.

Hope you go up and the decision is much harder.
Two players who you would want to keep and see if they can step up with Sunderland and try and keep you up.

Both excellent prospects and are being tracked by numerous clubs without a doubt.
Rigg and Jobe are 'freaks' for their age. Once in a generation kind....and we have 2 at the same time. IF we do go up, it will be Interesting to see how we handle both lads. I'm certain we will cash in on either Rigg or Jobe in the summer either way.

Sadly Mate player loyalty is a dying trait.
Hope they give you a minimum of another 2 seasons and when they do move on you get a big pay day.

Players like our legendary John Trollope playing for one club and rocking up 770 appearances are almost extinct. Lewington at MKD likely to be the last.

Oh I know that ..I'm not that naive mate  I mean, one of them will defo go in the summer, it's the way of the model. I personally think it will be Jobe off to Dortmund and Rigg will still be here for 1 more season.
