Champions Trophy 2025

What would happen if Pakistan and India got the final, would India just not turn up?
I'm sure in the hybrid model that the ICC are pushing now which was used for the Asia Cup the other year. Any knockout games that India play would have to be played at a neutral venue. Sri Lanka or UAE. Making a mockery of Pakistan hosting really.

I can see where the PCB are coming from in this instance tbh. When they were in the wilderness for ages they were happy to accept any olive branch to come out of it, but now that every team bar 1 are touring properly. It's a bit disappointing to see The BCCI haven't changed their stance in the slightest.

They'll probably play each other in the group stage as the ICC make sure of it every tournament. So I imagine Pakistan will be forced to leave the tournament they're hosting to play India elsewhere. Hope they refuse but no doubt money will talk as usual

Didn't realise the new ICC chairman, Jay Shah is actually the son of the current India minister of Home Affairs (equivalent to the Home Secretary in the UK). There's no chance the ICC will go against the wishes of the Indian government, so it's likely the tournament will be moved to UAE or SA.

You couldn't make it up mate. Its all a big fat joke. The whole shebang.

Pcb looking for ICC to help out. Turns out new head bloke is Indian trumps son. Aye that's gonna work out just fine for the pcb.

They we proper fucked now.

I dare say you'll be proven correct mate.

Without wanting to sound too despondent or biblical. Im just tired of waiting for the world to wake up to whats going on. When will good overcome? The Trueman show we live on just seems to get more and more satanic. There's gotta to be more than life than chasing after coin.

How much is enough for Bcci and their ilk?

Just seen that the favourites to host if Pakistan pull out is no longer South Africa… I’m sure you won’t need too many guesses to get to the answer of the likely hosts.

f***ing India? Nee way man.

Why do we even bother playing these tournaments anymore? Everything is stacked in India's favour.

This is getting beyond the pale now. Can't see any other boards sticking their heads above the parapets backing Pakistan.

Awful position for the PCB. They should just tell the BCCICC to fuck off. But in reality they need their money more than most.

Scandalous all the same.

It's a pointless tournament anyway that was due to be scrapped until guess who demanded it was kept to keep lining their coffers even more

It's a fantastic country, but I can't stand their cricket team, board and a section (not all by any means) of their support. Or their government.
My sentiments exactly.

I'm reminded of this documentary from a while back. 2 genuine cricket fans asking questions of the cricketing authorities about the state of cricket. What they found was corruption and rotten governance from those supposed to be in charge of cricket.

10 years on and we haven't changed. Criminals and their cronies in positions of power dictating to the rest of the cricketing world what is in the best interests of the game.

If it gets moved I think everyone else should boycott.

Not a chance like, but still.

Surely when Pakistan were chosen to hist the tournament the ICC must have been aware of the situation.

Let India play where they want but if they reach the final against Pakistan they should forfeit if they still won't play there.

Players are also frustrated at the fact NOCs will be granted to all-format county cricketers for the IPL but not the PSL, which they perceive to be a major inconsistency. There is no explicit mention of either league in the published policy, but the ECB has given clear indications that it will continue to issue NOCs for the IPL as it has done in previous years.

Jamie Overton who is contracted to Surrey rather than England - will be granted an NOC to play in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings after he was signed at last weekend's mega-auction, missing the first two months of the Championship season as a result. But if Overton had gone unsold in the IPL and then signed a PSL deal instead, he would not have been granted an NOC.

This is an insidious as it gets, and the ftecb are just enabling it.

I'm sure the Pakistan Super League (which started before the IPL) never actually overlapped with County cricket. This meant there was always a large English contingent most years.

Until the IPL decided to move and clash directly with the PSL that is. This meant the PSL had to be pushed back in the calendar and started to overlap County cricket. Reducing the English players who could do both.

So let me get this right, the ECB have now decided that the few players that could do both, can't anymore as they won't be issued NOC's? They want to preserve the county game. Yeah right

But NOC's for the IPL clashing with CC is okay? Rampant hypocrisy.

It's taken the PCA to bring this matter to the media.

It's as if there is a concerted effort to destroy Pakistan Cricket by India and the ECB aren't now just bystanders anymore, the are active participants.
