Passing on tickets to gain points

If the club is really serious about reaching their net zero target by 2040, at some point they will need to address the impact of moving 2000-3000 fans every other week half way (and in some cases all the way) across the country and back to support the lads.

Given the large geographical spread of SAFC fans across the UK, it would probably make some sense to prioritise tickets for fans who reside closest to the destination stadiums and thus dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of the away trips. I for one live 15 miles from Luton, 20 miles from Loftus Road, 10 miles from Watford and 30 miles from Watford - on that basis I could attend all 4 games and generate less in terms of carbon emissions that a fan residing in Sunderland travelling to Leeds.

One to think about if we still want the club to be here in another 100 years.

Tongue firmly in cheek (but I'll take a spare for Milwall!
So do you live 10 miles from Watford or 30 miles from Watford?

I want to go to the games near my house but I know they are popular & I don’t have any points so I’ll make it a climate issue 😂

I don't have any direct evidence either and haven't travelled with a branch for about 15 years. But when I did I would say probably 80% of the bus were regulars who went to pretty much every single game. The costs of running a bus were very high and a couple of empty seats often were the difference between it being financially viable to run a bus or not, with the price of fuel, insurance, coach hire etc now I imagine the margins are even tighter and if they aren't confident of filling it fairly fast in advance you'll probably find many of the branches just can't afford to take the chance and will wrap it in. But as I say, no direct evidence on that - just think a very small number of spare numbers with high points will make a very big difference.

I'm not massively bothered either way though really and it's not a hill worth dying on. Just think talk of ID checks and scanning biometrics is crazy for a fairly small problem. An immediate solution to ensure tickets reach those on fewer points would be for the ticket office to get their own house in order instead of the fiasco we had at Luton where tickets never reached anyone on less than 30 points but we sent 100 tickets back.
I’m not in favour of ID checks either or biometrics either in all honesty. I would hate to see that happen.

people got points for going to a f***ing lasses home game the other week ffs. using the point to make sure it wasn't empty.
You don't think the club should be trying to increase crowds at the 'f***ing lasses' games then?

I would give 2 points for every lasses game at home and 4 for lasses away games. Be worth it just for the seethe from the gammons and misogynists on here.

But some things are circumstantial though aren’t they? I can’t have a season ticket. It’s not physically possible. Why does that mean I should not be able to attend away games?
It doesn't mean that. You can go to any game that goes to general sale which quite a few do. Swansea in a few weeks will probably be one.

yeah i do. i think they should definitely maximise the profile of the womens team. they should do that by offering tickets through schools, even a merch discount with every ticket bought.

what i disagree with is giving people an opportunity to benefit for a completely different team by buying a ticket. if anything its condescending towards the players to have to use the mens point offering to fill it. let them do it on their own merit.

also, definitely not a mysoginst mate, probably been to more womens games than you:lol: cock end:lol::lol::lol:

Why not give a point for every £10 spent in the club shop?

Its ridiculous the same number of points are given for womens home games than are given for away games at Plymouth etc... Its a different team. Points arent awarded for u21, u18 and pre season friendlies but are for that. Makes a mockery of a loyalty point system that awards the fans who go anywhere and everywhere to watch the first team.

I was thinking along these lines.
Buy a ST - 23 points
Buy any home game - 1 point
Buy an away ST - 23 points
Buy any away game - 1 point

Same as now but with regular attendees rewarded too. Exiled fans can pay the club for an away season ticket, and they can get a bit of a step up the points ladder.

Non season ticket holders can still accrue points. The may only attend 15 homes and get three away points from general sale, but at least they would be rewarded for attending, whereas now they attend those 18 games and get nothing.
And how does the away season ticket work if we sell 1500 of them, then at Luton away we get 1100 tickets and the corporate and players/staff take 350 of those?

I very much doubt the last bit mind. I once went to see our lasses reserves away.

PS - No need for the insults either.

I'm guessing here, but say you need 55 points to qualify for a Luton ticket. You would have your away ST with 23 points, if you had built up to 55 points with points from home games and any aways etc you you could apply in the first phase, if you had less, you'd have to apply in the appropriate phase accordingly.

I guess the away ST would have to cost less than a home ST because you are guaranteed your home seat but you wouldn't be guaranteed an away seat.

I see some flaws in my ideas, but I do think people who get to go to some homes and some general sale aways should have a chance to buy away tickets before people who never go to homes, and haven't bothered with many general sales.

Away STs are a bad idea… they just encourage people with money to say ‘fuck it, I’ll spend a grand to save the hassle’ and then palm off the tickets they can’t be done with.

Again, more points sharing if people are saying that’s the issue.

Points for the Ladies’ team or merchandise are unfair.
The merchandise suggestion was a pisstake! Every bit as fair and as relevant as ladies. Want to encourage people to buy club stuff rather than DHGate.

The old voucher scheme was a good idea. Saved me and many others a lot of hassle. The club should get the lowest allocation and if thats Luton c1,200 should contact top 500 points holders to ask if they want.

The fume over one point for the womens derby is ridiculous like

Hope they do it for the other games at the stadium too - easy 4 points for me

The current system massively favours people who have a large disposable income and are time rich.

Be impossible for someone working full time on minimum wage with a family to ever build sufficient points to see an away game closer to Sunderland.

Just a little bit elitist for what was a working class club.
