I think the PCB are well within their right to tell them to sod off. If they don't travel, they don't play.

Do they even bother telling the ICC why they won't travel now? 20 years ago I could understand. Now, it's just taking the piss.

Exactly. There's already presidents been made over the years.

The ICC needs to grow some balls and stand up to the BCCI.

It's not just the ICC that need to pipe up. The other cricket boards need to aswell. What happens when the BCCI decide they don't want to play against your country one day? We all need to nip this shit in the bud right now or this will be start of the end for cricket in the long term.

But what do we get? Surprise surprise the ftecb come out with this blatant arse licking money grabbing claptrap.

Be awful for the game, but FTBCCI won't care.

I've asked some Indian cricket fans whats the craic with not playing Pakistan, the answers are unbelievably arrogant. They don't want to legitimise a terrorist neighbouring country apparently and thus empower Pak to be of threat to them as best brownies who play cricket.

Delusion doesn't come close.

The PCB better not back down now. No way should they spilt the tourny to satisfy them kernts.

Pakistan played in India last year for the World Cup.

God I detest India.

It's a f***ing disgrace mate. Indicative of our fucked up world whereby money trumps morals.

Naively I thought cricket was better than that. Obviously not.

Just imagine if Aussies refused to play us for nee reason. Would be hell on. But unfortunately Bcci are lining everyones pockets so they can do what they like. Even try to reduce a competitor to the dark ages.

I dunno why I get so het up about the issue. Maybe I see it as a microcosm of the wider world issue. Or it could be that we have been denied some cracking cricket rivalry series.

I would even go as far as saying that the BCCI should also be banned from the test championship too since they've refused to play Pakistan in a test series since 2007.

If every other nation has to follow the ICC programme that each team plays each other at least once at home and once away over a 10-year period, why should India be exempt.

There's going to be a time in the not so distant future where only 3/4 teams play Test cricket and the rest have to make do with the shortest format to stay alive.

Competition is paramount for any sport to thrive. While the sport is still competitive on the field somewhat, the disparity off it is huge and is only going to get bigger until eventually the IPL eats the rest of cricket.

The ICC are letting it happen.

The ICC are just the puppets of the BCCI now. India get 40% share of the annual ICC earnings and 3 of the last 5 chairman have been Indian.
There's no interest in growing the game, the sole intention of the ICC is to line the pockets of the BCCI, ECB and CA.

Bang on. It's hard to reconcile those figures with the state of the game worldwide tbh.

Maybe, we're all wrong and the monopoly of the IPL is the way forward? Doubt it.

Like others have mentioned, India picking and choosing their opposition isn't on and shouldn't be allowed. Whatever my views on the wealth distribution, surely this fixture manipulation makes a mockery of the World Test championship ranking system a joke?

IMO it's only going to get worse, the way cricket is heading it will be solely franchise cricket around the world who are all owned by IPL sides, basically becoming their feeder clubs. International cricket, apart from the top 3-4 nations will cease to exist outside of the T20 world cup.

We already have no international fixtures during the IPL, once they complete the set and own all franchise leagues you're only going to have a 2-3 month slot max per year for international cricket.

Just shoot me now!

Is there another sport in the world where one country's board basically run the whole game?

It'd be like FIFA being subservient to the English premier league in footy.

So, the PCB have rejected the hybrid plans. They have deferred to their own government to see if they can get answers to specifically why India refuse to travel to Pakistan. 'Don't want to' isn't an option anymore.

Security? Mumbai terror attacks 17 years ago? USA don't hold the Saudi's responsible as much for 9/11 as the Indian's do the Pakistani's for Mumbai attacks.

Just over 3 months to go for the ICC to sort this mess out. I hope the Pakistanis stand firm, even if they end up taking the champions trophy off them.

They have to draw a line in the sand sometime.
