Wildfire down Deptford? Obviously a canny walk to the stadium if you were to go straight there. Other than that there’s loads of Italian restaurants that’ll no doubt have lunch special menus. Marcellos, Angelos, Roma, Bianco.

Edit: dinnar what happened there. Was meant to quote @PTR
aye
to be fair it has loyal punters
Chaplins is class man.

As an all rounder it's the best pub in the town. The real ale is generally spot on now, loads of good staff, loads of TVs, always got a good crowd in, nee divvies , right next to the bus and metro station, and they do food but it still feels like a drinking pub
Yeah ,got stuff going for it but down the years the beers were the usual std lagers and i dont think my ale mates rated it either and maybe its towny for us without as you say getting any riff raff in .Tellys i can take of leave ,no interest in food either
i remember the clique postioned around the left of bar as you go in :)
i'd pass it to go to the Ivy instead even though thats nowhere near the bar it was in its day

Tried a pizza outside the Fire Station last night. Very good but was a canny wait.

The word 'generally' doing some heavy lifting there. My experience of Chaplins is that the beer has always been hit and miss. Never quite off but never quite right either.
I'll agree about the staff as I know a few of them. Don't dislike the pub but it would never be my first choice as I think it lacks something. Used to always be honking near the bog on the left as well but we try not to sit there now.
