That second half

Straight out of the Grayson/Coleman/Dodds/Beale handbook. After the way we performed in the first half, to play like that was just baffling.
How well did you think we played in the first half? 2 incredible goals but don't think we were anywhere near our best. Second half was a massive drop off in performance.

I think it shows how another three game week caught up with some of the players.

As good as we were first half by ten minutes into the second there was a few of our lot out on their feet. Rigg was superb first 45 but he was running through treacle most of the second half and his touch completely deserted him.

Tiredness also affected the decision making in the final third (at least I’m giving them that excuse). Roberts, Mundle, Neil and Isodor all squandered great openings to put the game to bed.

As for Millwall away - the lineup for that one will be keeping Regis awake for the next fortnight!

The goals were world class that we scored first half. Generally first half we played alright. Maybe I'm missing something when people say we played well first half. Our performance dropped off a cliff second half, so maybe that makes the first half appear better than it was. But at halftime I never felt we had control of the game.

I know what you mean. It might seem churlish considering the quality of the goals we scored, but the number of times players made the wrong decision in the final third had me tearing my hair out.

If that’s the case we need to raise our fitness levels to those of Coventry et al. Less than a third of the season gone and a lot more weeks to come with 3 games in then.

Unfortunately we don't like teams who press us high up. Once Coventry started doing that we went further and further back compounded by Mundle and Browne going off and changing to 5 at the back

Le Bris has been great. The only thing he has not done well at the start of this season is give his subs enough minutes. This means main players have got tired, injured and suspended more than they would otherwise, and backups have not had enough minutes to get form. That’s just starting to bite the last few games. Hopefully the international break is enough time to reset and figure out a new right hand side without Roberts and Hume, and how to play with only 2 CMs.

I have no idea what the lineup will be next game.
